Vortex has always been a smooth Stand up for me as well.

I will agree that most Carowinds Coasters are short, but that's true at most parks. Location, finance, available land, and how old the park is has some to do with that also.

It doesn't mean the coasters are bad, just compact.

Shockwave is a coaster that is outdated, but even it is fun to ride every once in a while, it does have an interested little track.

Heck, while we are on the subject, most of the coasters at Kings Dominion are short, but they have plenty of coasters and variety so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

The only park I know with all long and fairly tall coasters is Busch Gardens, but that's a whole other topic. :P

you want short coasters,go to Gillian's Wonderland Pier in ocean city, the coaster can't be more than 1,400 ft long, but dang it's awsome!it's probably THE most intense coaster i've been on(sideways banked turns that's why,and only seatbelts)

more coasters that are ridiculously short is at Playland's Castaway Cove in ocean city, they might be compact, short, and not very fast, but they're some of the most intense mouses i've ever been on,and theres a looping coaster, that's cool. ,

one of the wild mouses at Playland is amazing,it has a turn like Mullenium force's without the overbank,it's great.(and it has NO lapbars, only seatbelts!)

ThrillSeeker wrote: Vortex? Your Favorite ride is Vortex? I guess i can see that but not in my book i cant enjoy it because i get my nuts crunched and my neck broken at the same time. This is why me and my cousin calls Vortex the nut cracker.

I didn't say it was my favorite, I said it was one of my favorites.

1. Top Gun
2. Thunder Road (Backwards)
3. Vortex

Thuder Road is the all time best in my line, but really top gun is my favorite steel coaster. And next year the flying coaster will be a favorite. (Sorry this is some what off topic)

Anyway, back to talking about Thunder Road...

I said this before but I really think it belongs in this catagory, what do you guys think:
Thunder Road should get new cars. They should seat four and have two people faceing forwards and two backwards, like the Super Saturator, both sides should have them, this would make for even races and people would be able to ride forewards or backwards.

If you want more go to "Shortest Lines", I have the last post.

I don't think moving the trains around would that much trouble (one half facing forward, the other half backward.) I know at Knoebels they've switched around cars on the Phoenix trains for PPP. I don't think another park has ever done it before and it would be certainly unique.

Your right on that about four people in one seat. That would be the best idea anyone posted. One thing, would they have to widen the track a bit to fit the car so it won't hit the sides!!

Actually, Silver Dollar City's Arrow mine train, Thunderation, was built with some of the cars facing fowards, and some of the cars facing backwards. I believe it is the only roller coaster to have the cars positioned like that perminantly.

No, they'ed be the same size, just four per car instead of six, which means lower ride capacity, but I think it's worth it, they could also have cars where people face each other like on invertigo (Inverted Shuttle) and cars where people are back-to-back
