General Carowinds discussion

Forgive me I am new to the CC website, however I will be making my first trip to Carowinds on opening day. What might I expect crowd wise?
What are some rides that I should avoid and what are the major rides I should hit first? (I am a hudge Coaster fan and I have a good idea of what the park has to offer)
Any good food stands that I should hit?
How are Park Ops?
Any and all general information would be great.
Thank you for your time and help.

The Borg is a fun one, but I'd bet the crowd will be average for opening day with school being in and all, but the borgs line will probably still be crowded. . . .

So instead you should come see the characters. . . haha, but I may be baised.

Top Gun is usually empty everytime I go to ride it, but thats during full season in the middle of the week. GREAT ride though!

I myself wouldn't expect a big crowd on opening day, not unless they advertise it like crazy with some hoopla or something. (probably by pushing the new ''southern star'' far to much)

But. . . thats all my opinuon, lol

Since I just went through the ''new'' orientation I can at least say that guest satisfaction is going to be a number 1 priority this year.

As for food stands, I like the one to the immediate left of North Gate when you reach the ''Carowinds'' sign. But then again, its going to be staffed differently this season, so it could turn out being the worst one.

Ok. . slight correction. . the crowd may be a little bigger then I expected. On The 'Winds' website it reads:

30th Annual Band, Orchestra & Jazz Band Festival and 28th Annual Choral & Show Choir Festival scheduled for March 24 & 31

So ya. . .

They usually have that festival on opening day, and crowds are never very bad. I wouldn't expect lines to be too bad at all.

Carowinds is a nice park for a first time. I'd hit BORG first because it can get lines even on dead days. Then just do whatever you feel. Everything else has decent capacity, especially during the beginning of the season. Try your best to get a nite ride on Top Gun, and spend some time doing the rides around Nick Central (Rocket Power is fun,as is the log flume).

Above all, have fun. Carowinds is a nice park for a first timer.

No silly. It's the height of our new coaster they are building in 2008.

Well the rides you need to get in are Top Gun, Borg, Thunder Road, and possibly Vortex. Also check out Nick Central and maybe Southern Star. Nick Central's best ride is probably Phantom Flyers. Drop Zone is fun also but pretty short. Also you should ride the mine train ride, it's fun but not very thrilling. All together this park is pretty fun and you should try to do as much as possible.
