Interesting article. Especially the housing development scheduled for a 90 acre plot of land near the mall. Is this a good idea?

Hmmm...maybe Carowinds will tap into it and retheme all their rides.

Question...

Doesn't Carowinds still own all the land and just lease it to the mall?

There goes the neighborhood.

Mark, I didn't want to be the first to say it, but I'm with you on this.

Carowinds doesnt own the land. They did have an opportunity to purchase the property and were given a choice Paramount between that and Boomerang Bay.... the bay won

Actually, the translation is...

Idea stupid. Good for America. Hello Mexicamerica.

I'm not saying the mall is bad or anything, but "good for America" is a bit of a stretch. ;)

Actually I meant GOODBYE America. So, there you have it.

Boombay won out? What a benefit that was.

Sorry if I sound so negative but the whole "What else can we do for Latinos" along with what I believe was a total waste of money in Boomerang Bay makes me wonder where peoples minds are.

I am all for diversity and cultural differences, but now is not the time to be adding things like this, especially in North Carolina.

If "Paramount" could have bought that property for what they put into Boomerang Bay then that would have been the real bargain. But, the water park is an entirely different subject on its own.

They should have been thinking long term. If they would have purchased the mall it would have given the opportunity for many expansions in the future.

I think it's a bad idea, especially the housing.

Where in the heck are they going to put housing over there?

Though I really wonder if this will revive the mall. I'm not very optimistic.

It's been limping along for years.

It'll probably revive the mall. Bring in a crowd. . .and thus increase the latin american population going to carowinds. . . .thus, more money, more rides.

However there so hard to deal with sometimes. . .

And I love how in the article that talks about it the guy bascially says:

''OH! And don't forget to count the illegal immigrants here too!"

*sigh*
