I, of course, was at the park opening weekend and happened to hear the Carowinds Original Theme Song. I was wondering if anyone on here would happen to have an audio file of it?

I would love to hear it as well if anyone has it to upload.

Occasionally records of the song will show up on Ebay...I think I've see 2 or 3 over the last year.

I've got one of those records of the original Carowinds theme song. I remember the lyrics since I use to sing it all the time....."Carowinds, is a magic breeze....let the breeze, take you where you please. Everyday's a holiday, everyday's a Saturday. Fun never ends, Carowinds!"

In fact, the guy selling them was John Moehring himself, the one who wrote the lyrics.

It's a small record the size of the old 45 RPM's, but it's actually a 33-1/3 RPM. I need to find a way to convert it to an audio file. I bet you youngin's are saying "what the hell is a 45?" :P

The record is labeled as:

Side 1 - The Carowinds Song (2:41)
Side 2 - The Carowinds March (2:45)

I was like
"What the hell is that music playng?"
And my boyfriend was like..."you been here 1392 timez and you never heard that before?" The music was so corny it made me laugh.

It made me laugh too! I've probably been to Carowinds 50 times since 1974 and I never remember hearing it... of course I wouldn't remember when I was 12 years old... but in the "modern" grown-up era I would. As a side note, it was a nice touch having the salute to America when the park opened - must be a CF standard for all their parks.

The idea of a theme song in itself...

Carowinds has always played the National Anthem before opening the park. Or was there something I'm missing when you say 'salute to America?'

The few times I've been at the park when it opened was on Saturdays the last two years, when Plats got to ride an hour early - we were already on Borg or Top Gun at the official opening. Still, nice to hear the National Anthem at the beginning of a fun day in the park. With five children in tow, I'm usually not through the gate right at opening...but I'm close...
