Words can't begin to describe what I've endured tonight. I am beat. I am battered. I am probably bruised and we're doing it again tomorrow. The 2007 edition of Holiwood Nights is off to a fine start. The Raven is running excellent. The Legend is hauling major arse. The Voyage? I'm a believer now. I had my doubts about that coaster last year. I liked it. But, I wasn't crazy over it. This year all those doubts, etc are gone. I don't know if it was the retracking or what. But, this year, the Voyage is taking names.

Those of you who went last year know of the crowd that was here. Its not that crowded this year. One picnic pavilion is probably how many people are here. Raven and Legend are walk-ons and stay ons. Of course, most of the people are at Voyage. We've had several major marathons on the Legend. It hasn't run this well in years. In fact, Cindy and myself closed the Legend down for the night

We're doing it again tomorrow night.

I hope that all 4 of your tires are flat this morning and that those stupid Indiana storms will drop a cow on you too!

Glad to see you are having a great time Max. How was the water park this morning? You see any whale sittings or beachings I should say.

No Dave. I'm not there this year... lol

Actually, I'm about 20lbs less than last year...so maybe I wouldn't be a beached whale this year.

Glad you're having a great time! I think Voyage needed to "break in" a bit, as some of the folks I talked to when I went last August said it was running better then than it was at HWN 2006. They didn't say it was a major difference, but enough that they noticed it.

This was also during the heat wave, and I imagine getting to 100 during the day then cooling off later didn't hurt things either, although it was pretty freakin' good even first thing in the morning. I certainly had zero doubts about Voyage after my rides. Legend was also running very well then, taking my #2 spot. I liked Raven well enough, but it just wasn't close to the other two.

Still, I'd liked to have gotten the really dark rides you're getting at HWN. They were closing at 9pm when I went, which with their funky time zones was about like 10pm here, so it was mostly dark right as the last few trains went out. My last ride on it in the back row when it was mostly dark was insane - would like to get 2 full nights of those, but I'm glad I got what I did. No, not jealous a bit. Not at all.

I'm sure it has to do with the retracking. They replaced over 1100 feet of track before the start of the 2007 season.

When I was at HW last Sept., the Legend was awful. The train was hunting, jack-hammering and just plain sluggish, and the Voyage, well, I didn't see what all the fuss was about. I liked it but I wasn't awe-struck over it. And then there was the Raven, which in my opinion was the best coaster during my visit.

After reading your recent opinions Max (and that short-winded message you left on my answering machine last night), I may have to take another trip to the cornfields of Indiana.

We actually didn't go to the waterpark ERT this am because it was fairly nippy and the water was probably very cold. However, we did go about lunch time and the waterpakr was fairly empty. We got plenty of rides on the various slides. Then, we just rambled around the park for a while. Then, we came back and chilled before the evening ERT. I'll reveal later what my secret is for a most excellent ride on the Voyage.

Overall, it was a very fun event.
