General Carowinds discussion

OMG Kings Island isn't a bad part at all. We have some great rides. What is wrong with KI's rides? Granted your Top Gun is much better than hours, but we got ours in 1993. We have Flight Of Fear, which is a great coaster.

Just a few items make it so...

Beast has been neutered
SOB is a joke
Italian Job is OK, but I'd take Flight of Fear or Volcano over it any day. I'd sure take Top Gun (ours) over it!
Delerium is fun, but breaks down a lot.

The only good rides left at KI are Delerium, Drop Zone and Flight of Fear.

The rest are just average to horrible.

Oh and Tomb Raider blows now.

Delirium runs pretty good these days. The Beast has been braked for years get over it. I think if the The Beast would run brakeless it would cost them too much money to maintain the ride. As far as Carowinds and Kings Island go, Kings Island is #1 in my book. Let see here, you guys may have gotten the better Top Gun, but our Arrow Looper is better, we have Flight of Fear. Racer has been running backwards alot longer than Thunderoad. We have a new coaster this year? What did you guys get a ride that use to be in the park rebulit. I liked Carowinds when I visted but come on don't slam on KI. How many times have you been to KI? When was the last time you went to KI?

I think if the Beast ran brakeless I would be dead before the end of the ride. I was praying for brakes around every turn last time I rode it. I'm known for liking some rough woodies that other people hate, but that thing is miserable now.

And Vortex is not only my least favorite Arrow looper, it's one of my least favorite coasters period.

I haven't had a desire to go to that park in several years. In fact, SOB totally ruined me of that park. I hate to say that I actually hate a coaster. But, I hate THAT coaster. Its like Cedar Point. I really haven't had a desire to go back there either.

There's really nothing at KI that makes me want to go back there.

I will slam on KI as much as I want. I use to think it was one hell of a park back in the day, but over the last few years it has downright sucked. The operations of the park the last time I went would make some Six Flags park look like Disneyworld. Nothing like seeing people walking the track for morning inspection at noon. Rides opening in the late afternoon.

Now I have not been to the piss hole of a park in over a year, so they might have got abit better, heck do not think they could have got worse to be honest with you. I said when they got something worth riding that was new, I would go back. Now they have that wonderful piece of Vekoma called Firehawk (Was my 200th coaster when it was at a Six Flags Park). Will that get me back to the park. I doubt it will. It is new to the park but is still a worthless piece of steel. Any more comments on Firehawk Sunshine?

I recall riding the Beast with the only brakes on it where the brakes in the shed and the brake run. It was a pretty damn good ride but nothing that left a lasting impression. People get caught up in the nostalgic of the Beast. So what it is long and hidden in the woods. Does it want a cookie to munch on or something?

You talk about Flight of Fear and I will agree it is a good ride now with just the lap bars. I guess the only thing that takes away from it is that mid course brake that just about stops the train. It takes away from it. You need to head off down and take a spin on Poltergeist at Fiesta Texas if you want to see how Flight of Fear is suppose to run. And let us not forget that Flight of Fear at KI at one time was heading north to Canada before Cedar Fair bought the park.

You really want to talk about the Mega Arrow Looper at KI and just how great it is? I just enjoy those wonderful corkscrews the trains attempt to navigate. I am not even going to harp on it. Just look at what Jon said about it. Enough on that one.

Does making a Woodie go backwards longer make it the better ride or something? That is what I am getting from your wonderful wrote replay of KI Fan Boyism. If that is the case than maybe a certain Woodie at a park in California might be still standing if they ran the trains backward. Think I will stop that one on that note by saying your thinking is flawed in a major way.

Before I close on my dissertation here folks. I want to state that I have not been to Carowinds as long as I have not been to King's Island. And chances are I will not visit Carowinds or KI at all this year. I had a pass last year and did not use it one time. I do not even own a Maxx Pass this year.

Any more questions that you would care for me to elaborate on farther?

If you want long and in the woods, I know of a certain park that's two hours-ish WEST of KI....

OK first off you ASKED why we didn't like King's Islands' rides.

So you get mad because we state our opinion?

I have been to KI in 1999, 2002 and 2005.

You also said that Vortex was better than Cyclone, longer doesn't mean better. Vortex beats me to death every time I ride it. It's an Arrow looper, no surprise.

But again if you don't want our opinions, then why do you post on this site?

A discussion board is for DISCUSSION. If you don't want someone to disagree with your opinion, then I think you need to find another board.

Maybe he doesn't know that our beloved Cyclone was the world's first 4-looper since he is so hung up on stats. That still holds some water in my book.

KI has had a history of bad rides. The prototype BAT only lasted a few seasons. SoB, was a complete disaster. That TOGO standup was a maintenance nightmare. FoF was terrible until they fixed the lapbar problem. The Beast only had about 10 years of goodness before it went to pot. The Vortex is an Arrow headbanger at it's finest.

The only rideable coasters at KI are Adventure Express and Racer, IMO.

Racer was unbelievably bad last time I was there; it was pretty sad.

Adventure Express on the other hand; I forgot about that one. That's an excellent ride. Probably the second best coaster in the park.

No offense taken :D

I agree with a lot of what you all are saying.

The Beast was the Best when built and for a few years after but to me it was the night rides that I liked the best.

FOF is way better at KD than KI.

Firewhat?

Adventure Express is great. Probably the best I've ridden like it.

I.J. ... um, mmm.

I loved SOB after it was first built but ONLY in the front 2 seats.

My main beef with KI, and ALOT of other parks, is why they can’t maintain the rides and atmosphere. You have to know up front that you will be doing maintenance and upgrades thru the years so just do it and quit adding the dang brakes. Quit building Novelty attractions and give us some WOW. Generations may change but the work attitude should not. I know several homeless people that would be tickled to death to have a job and would like doing it.

KI may have been a Flagship park at one time but now it's sucking on the rear udder.

Now, I haven't been to Carowinds this year either as I am fed up with it also. I will be going to Scarowinds, as my Son and his Wife are coming in, and I will be at C3 to see what devilish things Max and company come up with.

But, if you try to compare coaster to coaster we got ya beat. Besides that who gets to ride the Flyers? :P
