They are doing some major work on Thunder Road!

It looked (Saturday) like some supports on the turnaround (forward) were removed and there were several cranes/mancrane things around the structure.

I didn't walk down there Saturday, so I don't know if backward side is open or not. But forward was closed for sure.

Hurler also has a lot of new wood for the supports on the first turn after the big drop.

Who says Cedar Fair doesn't take care of their woodies? LOL

Good because I rode the backwards side a couple weeks ago and it was by far the worst ride I have ever had on that coaster and right there with the ride I had on Racer two years ago as the worst ride as I've ever had on one of the Paramount racers.

I was there Friday and noticed it was not running. Seems kinds strange to take it down in the middle of the season but as long as they make it smoother, its fine by me.

It's listed on the website that it's down for maintenance.

<a href='http://www3.cedarfair.com/carowinds/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=1' target='_blank'>Thunder Road is closed today</a>

That is nice. I haven't been to the park since 2004, but I dont remember Thunder Road being exactly "Smooth".

But I honestly like rough woodies. Hurler was starting to get a little bad, but i never had a big problem with it.

Ok I was at the park today and Thunder Road is still down, just an FYI.

Cyclone was also haveing "issues". They cleared the station and were looking at what looked like the station brakes. It didn't even test all morning I was over there.

Just hope they don't put 3 trim brakes on TR like a certain coaster that Eric likes.

They better not! If they did put trims on it I doubt the trains would make it back to the station.

I was at the park today too for a short time. We walked through the waterpark so we could get a good look at what was going on over there at the turn around. Hopefully TR will open back up pretty soon.

We rode the Flyers, Scream Weaver, and caught the Endless Summer Ice Show. We just walked around the park the rest of the time we were there. Noticed that Cyclone wasn't running. Lines for everything else were really long. Several rides had lines out of the queues (TG and RRR were two).

TR is smooth...but only if you ride in the middle seat of each car. never ride in the back...you'll be needing a new back and all when you get off. lol

TR still down today. From the looks of things when we were leaving, they replaced all the supports on the forward side from the track to the ground, maybe about the last 1/4 of the turn just before going back down. Didn't see the cranes up though, so hopefully it is about ready to go back to operational.
