Does the ride need some heavy duty work or something? From the trip reports I've read I'm under the impression it has been closed quite a few days over the summer.

Today I got a chance to see what was wrong with top gun, Basically they must have had a problem with a footer because they have teken a support beam out and dug up the footer it was attached to, currently there is a big hole where the footer was. <a href='http://www.rcdb.com/ig527.htm?picture=3' target='_blank'>http://www.rcdb.com/ig527.htm?picture=3</a> in this picture the 45 degree support is completely missing currently.

Since Top Gun is closed, they should go ahead and re-paint it! We all know that needs to be on the to-do list...

I was at the park today and there was a support off the batwing on BOTH sides.

I took pics and will try to upload tomorrow.

Looks like they've been painting some of the supports too.

Really it was on both sides? i guess i was paying attention to the left side a little too much when i passed it today. I did notice that there is new rebar inside the hole where the footer used to be, perhaps for a new footer.

I would think just the general forces of nature. Right where those 2 supports are Top Gun whips you around so I can see some damage coming from all that stress. At least, if that is the reason, they are fixing it instead of putting in trims.
How long does it take footers to cure? Will it be open during Scarowinds?
