I really want Dominator!!!! But, we will probably get the shaft again and end up with the Vekoma boomerang Head Spin.

But, there is hope. Apparently their are new trains with only lap bars for boomerangs.

I wonder if we will see a new entrance sign with the new logo and if certain rides get re-named/re-painted (Top Gun) Did they ever decide if they were going to keep the Paramount themes? They should get rid of them and just keep Nickelodeon.

Only one i care about is DA BIG DIPPER!!!! If it goes elsewhere, at some point in my life I'd have to take an adventure trip to wherever it ends up.

Hate to see the park do this, it was a nice park, me and John were considering going up there before the end of the year.

Whooooo....chalk this one up as "big suprise!".

And whats even more EFF'ed up is that they knew all along but didnt have the balls to tell people prior to the announcement. Hell I would have took the trip up since it would have been my last time having a cedar UNfair pass for a very, very long time.

Jarvis "Hey cedar UNfair...who are you in it for yourself or the public! You guys wouldnt have had such a negative reaction to this news if you had a big old fashion funeral for the park but noooo...you figure you'll just 187 it like we are in compton or something" Morant!

Although not likely, it would be nice if CF could find it in their heart to operate Big Dipper as a stand alone attraction simply because of it's historical status.

I've only been to this park once and that was in June of 1991 so it's been quite a while and I am not even familiar with their flat ride lineup. You can bet we'll see something from this park though. Does anyone have a ready list of flats from GL?

^<a href='http://database.thrillnetwork.com/park_view.php/442/geauga_lake.html' target='_blank'>TrollNetwork</a> has a semi-decent list of the park's rides.

If I was a long time visitor to Geauga Lake, saying that I was pissed on how this situation has been handled wouldn't even remotely describe my anger. Hell, even Opryland gave two months notice that the end was coming.

If only the last 10 years of this park's history could be erased... :(

Hope we get some badly needed flats at the least.

Question is could Cedar Fair do the same to Carowinds? What a sad day, I bet Cedar Fair just lost a lot of respect from a lot of people. I feel for the Geauga Lake fans, and just hope Carowinds does face the same fate.

PSSSSHHHHH...Lost is an understatement. I think its moreless not what was done but the way it was done. Thats some watergate scandal type stuff! C'mon cedar fair think about little billie who's dad told him next year he would be tall enough to dominator...because of this he will become the next michael myers!!

We will probably get the boomerang, but with the new trains, it might be 20% of 100% fun? But anyways, I would hope that Carowinds would not see the same fate, but with CF, nothing is out of context to them!!!

^Except... HRP isn't even open yet. If Carowinds competes with anyone its SFoG.

CF will not get rid of Carowinds. Ohio is oversaturated with parks and CF owned two parks in the same state. Hard Rock Park is Carowinds only competitor and it is about 4 hours away. Other than the waterpark, I don't think Geauga Lake had great attendance anyways.

I want Villain, Beaver Land Mine Ride, the Swinging Ship, the Top Spin, the Yo Yo, the Spider, and maybe Haybaler, but only if Haybaler Man comes with it.

[begin rant] anyways? I've never heard of this word. I keep hearing it online. People on forums all across the web have been using this word online. It is NOT in the dictionary. There is NO such word as "anywayS". If you were referring to "anyway", there is NO "S" in "anyway". [/end rant]

Seriously, don't take this personally. It is a pet peeve of mine. I have to correct anyone who uses "anyways".

Again, Sorry. Don't take it personally. :P Just don't use "anyways" again. ;)

EDIT: "Anyways" is in the College Dictionary (the Webster's Dictionary that includes curse and slang words), but is not in the True English Dictionary. Anyways is a slang word.

Anyone who has fears for Carowinds because of this needs to put some things into perspective. If you have not been to Geauga Lake or aren't familiar with it, the fact is the park was performing terribly. Six Flags took things to one extreme by flooding the place with rides, and now Cedar Fair is going to the other extreme by getting rid of the amusement park rides. I personally would rather see the park back to how it was originally; a small park with some flat rides and the Big Dipper, and then they could have their massive waterpark there as well.

It wasn't a destination park, for travelers or for locals. If you wanted to go to a big amusement park, you had Cedar Point in one direction and Kennywood in the other. The place was already in a bit of a jumbled state with the animal side that was closed down. I just don't think the place had that much potential. Carowinds is a park performing extremely well in market that is growing rapidly, and those who were at C3 can tell you that Scott Anderson was really excited about Cedar Fair's plans for the park.

Jarvis I totally agree. At least give people at 2 weeks notice or SOMETHING! But I think rumors had spread this might happen cause I heard closing day was actually kinda busy.

I'm so glad I got up there this year (finally).

That day there couldn't have been more than 500 patrons in the ride side of the park.

Probably not even that.

It's sad, I thought it was a nice little park.

But being between Cedar Point and Kennywood pretty much sealed it's doom...oh and the crap of Six Flags and how they "handled" the park.

On a less than serious note...I sure hope we don't get the boomerang. :P

Max I do NOT want ERT on that if we get it!!!!!

You know, I know Dominator is probably going to KD and I'm ok with that...but of their other coasters, I don't want a one. Villian could be awesome with PTCs, but I don't know if CF will go through the work to take down a woodie/hybrid or not.

I also wouldn't mind having the ferris wheel. I liked it and rode it.

Now that I think about it...that ferris wheel would fit perfect where saturator is!

Wow! What a difference a day makes. Carowinds will most certainly add some flat rides and possibly Dominator!!! Cedar Fair is about to serve me up some crow which I will happily eat if we get the Black Squid (Spider flat), El Dorado (which would go perfectly in front of the Happy Days Cafe) and/or Texas Twister (which is the same thing as Tomb Raider at KD & would fit perfectly where FSS now stands)...but Dominator...that's the one we want for the 35th Anniversary. Kings Dominion already has Volcano, Italian Job Stunt Coaster, Flight of Fear & Hypersonic XLC...we should get Dominator!! A Carowinds employee had posted somewhere that word was that Carowinds would get 3 or 4 additions for 2008 but everyone discounted that because it seemed excessive...now it seems likely....all of a sudden that 2008 Season Pass is starting to look promising...heck, if they do what I think they're going to do I'll even sport that Cedar Fair jacket! :D

There has been no official announcement on Dominator yet, but with HRP opening next year I think Carowinds might be the odds on favorite to get Dominator...can you imagine seeing it from the interstate. I'm sure we will hear something official very soon now.
