What a pleasant surprise when I saw a small carnival set up at Charlotte's annual Festival-In-The Park at Freedom Park today. The festival has always been sort of an art & food fest where vendors from all over the US (saw many from Michigan, Florida, Ohio & Nevada) set up small tents to display their wares.

On the carnival side were numerous kiddie rides including a small coaster, a full size Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel and a really old Loop-O-Plane.

The Festival runs through tomorrow for those interested.

I'll be going back later today for a concert and will take a few photos which I will display later tonight or tomorrow.

I wish I could have gone.

My last memory of Festival in the park was of me dropping my ice cream and pitching a fit about it.

No, that wasn't last week. I was about 8. <_<

I went Sat night, boy was there cars everywhere! My wife and I noticed they had kids rides this year, but we hadn't been in a few years. Nice to see the festival grow. More vendors than I remember from past years as well.

There's a loop o plane at Mint Hill Madness this weekend!

It's at 485 and Exit 44 Hwy 218 at the Mint Hill Park on Fairview.

They also have a Scat 1 or Scat 2. :huh: :blink:

I think that was the same loop o plane in your pic, or it's painted exactly the same.

Interesting ride. :blink: Especially having to hold myself down so I wouldn't hit the roof every time I went over. lol
