I have to say I agree 100% with him.

So far Cedar Fair has not made a happy camper out of me and as I've already said, 2008 will be the first year I haven't bought a season pass since Fall of 2003.

I had a pass from say 95 through about 2001 or 2002. Then 2004-2007.

So that tells you how I feel about the situation.

I don't understand all the resistance to these 'new' prices. Much smaller parks charge around the same price for JUST ONE PARK. And also lets face it, Paramount was underselling season passes for years, its about time they caught up. If season passes had been around 100 bucks throughout the 90s and early 2000s (like they probably should have been) most people would think this $140 dollars is a steal considering everything it gets you (admittedly not as much as it used to but still ...)

I still have yet to hear one decent reason why NOT to buy a pass next year.

Wow, preach it Jay! I completely agree, and lets not forget HRP is charging 140 just for HRP. Most season pass holder don't travel to the other parks so I can see why that benifit was removed.

^ Here are my reasons for not getting a Pass in '08:

1. Still like Carowinds just completely bored with it.
2. Won't be making a lot of treks to any Cedar Fair Parks in '08 to even the cost.
3. Will be overseas for much of my vacation in '08.
4. Will be in Florida, with my Sister and thier parks for the rest of my vacation.

Simple.

Unless something Major is added to the Park.. I won't be buying a season Pass..I don't think CF is doing a very good job at trying to make the consumers happy..
Rides are left down because of money issues or so I have been told from a few people. I don't want to spend money for a family season pass and show up and there are rides down for an extended amount of time..i.e. Thuderoad.
So untill some good comes along they can keep Carowinds...

This was the first season I've ever bought season passes (3), but I doubt I'll buy any passes for 2008. I took the family out to the park for the fifth time this season on Sunday and my 7 year old, who thinks Carowinds is the greatest thing ever, even got bored about halfway through the day.

She said to me "When are they getting some new rides, Dad?" :blink:

By next season, she'll be tall enough to ride the 54"+ rides but I'll doubt that will hold her interest for an entire season.

I think it is easy to see why some people did not want to renew their season passes for '08. I was able to buy my season pass last year for $54.95 which included parking. This year the price jumped to $74.95 and at first Cedar Fair was only offering 1/2 price parking. That ran the bill up to $89.95, and the benefits were the same. You cannot expect people to want to purchase the same product with that much of an increase. Whether or not Paramount was selling season passes for less than they should does not matter, they did it. The customers are the same and expect the same or better. Yes, Cedar Fair expanded the size for SCarowinds, but there have been many changes as well. One, like said earlier the rides are often down or not working. Paramount was willing to take the risk to try WinterFest again, and make it a better attraction after learning from the first year, but Cedar Fair axed that plan. SCarowinds did not do so hot the first year it was around either. I have found it interesting that Cedar Fair has gone back and added the parking for free. I wonder if the sales had decreased dramatically. I know I wasn't going to buy a pass, but now that the parking is free, I probably will. It is still higher than last year, but the price of things are going to go up. I think the inital price increase was too high, and I thank Cedar Fair for going back and changing it. I mean is the pull over really a $40.00 value? Didn't think so.

From what I have heard, season pass renewal sales are flat. Almost no one is renewing. That is why they threw in the free parking. Maybe if they throw in a new coaster, I'll bite.
