General Carowinds discussion

From what I have heard, season pass renewal sales are flat. Almost no one is renewing. That is why they threw in the free parking. Maybe if they throw in a new coaster, I'll bite.

I agree, I have no reason to re-new for something that I will not use. I mean, Carowinds is great, but it's the same thing every year. Every once and a while something new comes along, but the past few years have been blah! I know things will get better, but until then, I will try out some parks that I have never been too!

You know guys lets think back to the past few years. Under Paramount, Carowinds was treated like the red headed stepchild of the group.. We only got hand me down rides such as Borg and others.. Nothing new that was designed for Carowinds..
Now under CF we are in the same boat.. I see other old paramount parks are getting rides(maybe not all). If something big and exciting were coming they would have already broke ground and made the announcement.. CF is not really interested in improving Carowinds due to the fact we are so far south (my opinion),
I personally don't think that the HRP will have an effect on us getting a Major new ride anytime soon.. If CF continues to run this park as it does I am afraid sales will drop and then we may fall victim to corporate greed..

General improvements needs to continue no matter what happens. Carowinds has become a major theme park (IMO) and needs to continue on that path or we will indeed start seeing major drops in attendance as everyone will have that "been there, done that" attitude. But anyways, Carowinds is my home park and I just pray for good things.

Ok name some hand me downs?

Borg
The new kiddie rides

And what?

Reptar was new
Ricochet was new
Top Gun was new
Saturator was new

So since 1999 we have gotten 5 coasters. 1 was used the rest were brand new!

Also Cedar Fair has already stated that they are very interested in improving the park and Scott with the park said that the future plans look very promising for enthusiasts.

^ Yea, I got that impression from Scott. Altho I only talked to him for a minute or two he did seem pretty optomistic about the park and its future.

Also the fact that Carowinds is "...so far south" helps Carowinds. Carowinds doesn't conflict with any CF properties and gives them a presence in the south that they didn't previously have. Carowinds and KD are Cedar's entry against Busch Gardens, HRP, SFoG and Dollywood. I believe that they will compete with these other regional parks with new attractions in the coming years. Short term things may be a little shaky but the 2-5 year outlook is very promising. B)

It looks like Carowinds has given up on a regular pass. ??? No price change either???

It's changed yet again. Now the Platinum pass is $150 - a $10 increase.

The VIP pass is now $69.95 - $5 less than it was - and free parking is STILL included. The "family pack" is back - buy 4 or more passes and it brings the price of the VIP down to $59.95 each. The regular pass has disappeared for good, apparently.

No Cedar Fair jacket, but now both of these passes include FREE admission to Scarowinds in 2008. It's unclear if it's ONE admission to Scarowinds or unlimited the way it's worded.

It says these prices are good until January 2nd.

They sorta got to where they should've been to start with - one Carowinds pass, one all-access CF pass, all with free parking, and a bonus with the Scarowinds admission. They might have avoided some of the negative reaction had they done this to start with.

I cant believe that cedar fair is doing free scarowinds! I am very happy about this. I have always wondered why it wasnt free for season pass holders. I think this is a good move. I am not surprised about the water park expansion but from the sound of it, its going to be a lot better than what paramount had done with boomerang bay. I am assuming they are taking out super saturator and expanding out through there? Is this correct? Does anyone have any construction photos yet? I think next season is going to be a good one. I am hoping that maybe they will pop in a flat ride or 2. Maybe they will turn the building they used for that scarowinds maze into something....
