I for one really like Family Kingdom. Think is great that they are still there and have some really great rides. the Woodie is one of the best I have rode in the back seat. I recall when some so called webmaster went and called the place a dump. It seemed that people that have never been where agreeing with im.

I've never understood the hatred towards FK. Its just a nice, cozy seaside park. If you're expecting it to be something major, then you're going to be disappointed. There's not many of these parks left. So, enjoy them!

It's also one of the last entertainment spots on the beach as well and in that area, so all the families down there I'm sure are still going to patronize the park.

It's a lot cheaper than HRP too, which helps the families with limited budgets.

Ok, you guys must see something different here! I have went twice in my life and that was this year. The first time I went was in the spring and I was sick so I did not ride anything due to the chilly breeze. The summer trip was awful b/c that day was like 100 degrees and that nappy water smelled horrible and the coaster was out of order (i have never got a chance to ride it) and the water logs was the only thing there I wanted to ride and it was just okay like all the other one's. I do however love the ocean front water park of theres (way better than Myrtle Waves).

Well, Swamp Fox would change a lot of your perceptions I'm sure - it's a really good ride. I haven't had the good fortune to get a late-night ride on it, when it's supposed to really deliver some airtime - but my daytime rides were very solid, fun rides - with a few in the backseat delivering some good air. It looked even better in contrast to the nightmare down the beach that was Hurricane.

The place is a bit quirky, but I like that. I thought the staff was very friendly and that they had some pretty good rides in addition to Swampie. The dark ride was good, as was the Gravitron and some of the other flats. I didn't ride all of them, having done many of the similar ones at MBP earlier in the day. The only real disappointment was the "drop" tower - weak, lame, etc. I only wish they had been able to rescue some of the unique things from MBP like the rapids ride and the Haunted Hotel and put them at FK.

It's not my favorite park by a longshot, but I'm certainly glad it's around. As others have said, you can find much worse places to visit - certain "flagged" parks in Kentucky and Maryland come to mind.....

Nice! That was something that really annoyed me when I went to Orlando a few years back in April - many of the parks were closing at 6pm! The Disney parks were closing at 9pm or so I think.

HRP looks is open until at least 7pm, and often 10pm, even during the off season with the exception of a few 6pm days. That stretch during the summer of being open until 1am is impressive.

I think it's a safe bet this place will look pretty darn good at night.

It don't get much better than this. I just can't wait till this summer and I believe that HRP is going to do very well b/c people going to the beach for vacation are looking for way more than the beach these days and HRP I believe will deliver!!! :D

Wow...those are great hours and what an operating season; April thru Dec. That makes the season passes a great deal! Only a 3 month off-season...the folks at HRP seem really serious about exceeding expectations. I'm officially off the fence. It is refreshing to see a park's management actually make all the right moves.

There not opening until April because the park will not be finished. I believe it is going to be a year round park with a season pass being used for one year from the first day you use it!

It all depended on how many people was in the park. I've seen it a low attendance and the park close at 10pm and I've seen it so busy, it stayed open until about 2am!

so you know what that means...purchase your pas in like june next year and whatever they get in 09 (granted it will be open the start of the season) you could still get to experience it!
