Announced today that a soft opening for HRP will be April 14th. Here's the kicker. This will only be for single ticket purchasers. No season pass holders until May 9th.

Since HRP is going to be a year-around park once its up and running, the $150 annual pass price is actually a very good deal. I would use a pass quite a bit from Nov. thru March and the crowds would certainly be low in much of that period. HRP is going to be a madhouse during the beach season.

The VP of Operations told our group that they were not sure whether the park would be year round permanently. They are pretty much testing the waters so to speak. I mean, it does get quite cold in Myrtle Beach in Jan, Feb. Dead crowds or not, I don't see myself riding LZ in any temp cooler than 45º. It's just not fun for me when I am too cold to enjoy it, or dressed too warm to move around comfortably. But for those occasional weekends in the winter when it does get warm, that would be a great way to get a coaster fix.

New pics of the LZ coaster and I do like the "blimp" themed cars also!

These are some of the dumbest looking mascots I've seen since the original ones at Carowinds!

The only one that remotely looks good is the one that strangely enough looks like Scar.

They look like the country time jamboree (or whatever the heck they are called) from Disney...on acid.

Maybe that's the look they were going for.

I'm fine with the characters, but I do think some kids might get a little scared if approached by one of these "monsters"!

In that case we need to do a Straight Eye for the Queer Guy show on them.
