I thought these were pretty cool to look at. Our long lost White Lightnin makes an appearance too.

The photos of the Speedway and Lake Norman were pretty cool as well.

It's amazing at how much Charlotte has grown and it seems to keep on growing at a very rapid pace...cool!!!

Yeah our skyline has doubled or trippled since the late 80s.

And they are still building like mad down here (I work downtown).

While watching the Panthers (lose) yesterday, I noticed that the skyline has totally filled up in their shot from the stadium. it was only half that big when the stadium opened.

It's also nice to hear the announcers just say Charlotte and not "Charlotte, North Carolina the place noone knows exists"

Downtown has grown, and is still growing. I wonder if any of the planned high rise condo's will be axed due to the downturn in housing. Not sure if they want to build if they can't presale most of their units. Hopefully it still goes as planned. Charlotte is finally starting to get dense, and not just all sprawled out.

I noticed on Charlotte.com yesterday when the new lightrail opens up, they will have bus service going from the end of the line to Carowinds. Awesome if you live downtown and take the train/bus, that is almost better than the Season Pass Parking! LOL

The only one I've seen axed was the one that was supposed to be on the corner of Trade and Caldwell. They've removed the sign advertising it now and it appears to be dead.

Also, I don't think a lot of people really use the Carowinds line other than those that work at the park. But it drops you off at the North Entrance right in front of the season pass parking lot!

I don't think it was ever on, but I don't think Trump is coming to town either. Last I heard he backed out. That's a shame, it would have been nice to have a name like that tied to Charlotte. Couldn't be anything but good.

Look to the right of the entrance...where the paladium is now.

It was nothing but woods back then!

Thought I would post three old shots from a late 70s North Carolina tourism book:

^ LOL. In that shot of downtown my building was the tallest one.

Now I need to dig up that pic I have of Carolina Cyclone in RED from one of the old tourism books...where did I put that...

EDIT:

Found it. I think this was from 1979, or at least that's how I labeled it when I scanned it a while back. But that wouldn't make sense because CC opened in 1980. Dunno.

Well I was the 2nd (official) train out this morning on the new LYNX line (I was the 1st official one on Borg) LOL.

Anyway, it was slammed. But something makes me think it won't be that busy when people start paying for it on Monday A.M.
