How can you not like Top Gun? That is the best ride at the park, in my opinion. Did they change it or somthing?

(I'm very out of the coaster-loop now, sorry for being an idiot. lol)

Carowinds Top Gun has always been talked about as being one of the best, if not the best around!

I would definitely say Top Gun at Carowinds is the best ride at the park in my opinion. Wasn't it almost called Godzilla but the movie didn't do as well? That could of been a cool theme to it.

Kings Island's Top Gun sucks. Yes, it has a good drop for a suspended coaster and a nice overbanked turn, but that's all there is. Its too short, too old (15 years in 2008) and sitting on valuable land. It's nextdoor to the Great Wolf Lodge, and the park could easily add a new entertainment complex on the spot, kinda like Downtown Disney. An entrance to the park would be included, and the area could feature food, shops, clubs, ect., all without a park admission fee. And GWL guests and KI guests could enter whenever, plus the new entrance would be easy for GWL guests to use.

But that's just my opinion.

^Oh! Haha, sorry. When you said "Our" I was assuming you meant Carowinds, not Kings Island.

I agree. Sadly, i haven't gotten to ride it since i was 12 (April 2004). Actually, I havent even seen a theme park since Christmas 2004 when I went to Islands of Adventure. I'm really craving some coaster rides, especially because i just bought NoLimits again! haha.

But from what I can remember, Top Gun at Carowinds was absolutley amazing. It definitley beat Dueling Dragons IMO.

Well...
I wasn't going to head to CAROWINDS at all this year. I was going to go SIX FLAGS over GEORGIA BUT my fiance is VERY VERY VERY excited about the new wave pool. I guess they did know what they were doing when they added it. Maybe people requested one or the one go too crowded and hot? Who knows. To each its own. Hes only been to Carowinds twice and I've been there countless times in the past 12 years of living in N.C. so I guess he dosen't really know much. Lol.

Wow, I haven't met anyone yet who was excited at all about the new wave pool. Some who think it's an ok addition, but definetly at the bottom of their list...it didn't even make it on mine.

They have started construction already. Nothing really to take pictures of. Just a bunch of dirt and a deep hole in the ground for now.

I was looking at the Carowinds site and thought this was funny.

22 Spray Stations: Guests below have the power to saturate their neighbors. Some stations squirt water up to 50 ft.

3 Water Cannons: These water blasters spray up to 40 ft. high.

3 Geysers: See water gush to heights from 10 to 40 feet.

3 Water Curtains: These sheaths of refreshing water are 10 ft. long.

3 Giant Hose Nozzles: These giant hosess run water continuously, guaranteeing a thoroughly soaked rider.

3 Gondola Blasters: It takes two to make these blasters flow: one to pump the water and another to aim nozzel. The more teamwork, the better the saturating potential.

2 Pistons Blasters: These water play blasters require riders to pull back on a plunger that absorbs water and then shoots the H2O back out when pushed.

2 Pump Blasters: When the lever is pressed, water jets out of the nozzle that's aimed at the Flying Super Saturator track. How far the water reaches depends on how hard you press!

Now whats funny about that is that about 25% of those effects are still in operation. I think they need to update their site.

I love that Carowinds has decided to keep the ride but i would like to see it go back to what it was when it opened. Over half of the effects have not worked in years or have been removed. It's to the point you get lucky if you get wet.

I love the ride so i can only hope that the decision to keep it means they will now start to fix it up and make it fun again.

I agree Satie has become a shadow of it's old self. I would rather see the ride removed, or padding added to the seats. The guns were cleaned, and repainted in early 2006. Any know how long or why the play area closed?
