They will be open on Fridays in May, so that's a positive on the schedule.

Ugh. Well, not entirely Ugh, as Nighthawk is ok and probably an improvement on "BORG Assimilator". I might actually use that one instead of BORG.

Sure, I'll still call the coaster Top Gun, but it deserves a better rename than "Flight Deck". I mean, they have a fighter aircraft theme that they seem to be keeping, which should have a lot of much, much better naming possibilities than that. Off the top of my head I can think of Afterburner. Has some excitement to it, fits the theme, and is generic enough to not have any copyright issues.

I'd rather they just drop the TG out it's name and call it "The Jet Coaster". Generic yes, but not lame like Flight Deck.

Could someone please explain to me why it can't keep the name Top Gun.

It can still be called Top Gun and have nothing to do with the movie right?

I thought they Navy had a real class called Top Gun.

Flight Deck? That doesn't even make sense.

I suggested that they simply remove the space between the two words ("Topgun") so that the ride wouldn't have to change names.

It is only a name of two rides, it isn't like they are actually changing the ride or the whole park.

Yeah. 2 rides for now. I'm sure more will come in the following years or maybe before the 08 season begins.

I doubt it, what names are left to change? Drop Zone is staying DZ, Hurler and Scream Weaver don't have to be changed. AFX is the only one left. Nick Central may be changed if CF decides not to renew that license, which I doubt they will do.

I would of thought they would of just dropped Borg from Borg Assimulator.. to me Assimulator would of been a cool name for the ride and would of kept with sci-fi theme. Now I do like the name Nighthawk but I think it should of been used on Top Gun then they could of taken away the plane and put a giant hawk there.

I mean it makes sense, A "Topgun" in the airforce is basically slang for being the big guy on the flight deck....oh wait....maybe that's where it came from.....

Maverick would of been a better name. Or Mach something. Anything but Flight Deck.

Maverick or Mach 3 would have been awesome.

HAHA, I thought about Maverick yesterday since it was the main character. But maybe CF didn't want to detract from THEIR Maverick.
Maybe they just got the names backwards? I mean, Nighthawk sounds like a Airforce Pilots name, and Flightdeck for a flyer. Come on Cedar Fair, just switch the names around and you may be able to save a little embarrasment on this!
