I take back all I said about Cedar Fair, ok maybe not.

But I love yo yos and I'm glad they did the smart thing and got the one from Geagua Lake. I didn't take the time to ride it last year though, so hopefully it's a pretty standard set.

Still won't make me buy a season pass though.

I don't care about the name. It's better than Flight Deck. It's still clear that Cedar Fair is not goo at nameing coaster all of a sudden. I just hope Carowinds Top Gun gets the new (somewhat better) name.

Well, this is certainly interesting news on several fronts.

The name would sound somewhat better with the -ER on the end, but Afterburn is worlds better than Flight Deck. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet they'll use this on all the former Top Guns, since all those seemed headed for getting Flight Deck.

The Yo-yo is a pleasant surprise as well. I havent' been on one that I can recall, but I do like wave swingers and this looks to have a bit more interesting ride action. At any rate another flat is great, and it's nice to replace our dear-departed swings with something similar to add a bit more life to County Fair.

And - Saturator staying? Great news! It's a unique ride and one that's quite fun on a hot summer day - both for the ride and the scenery. Having it open only during waterpark season makes lots of sense - it's a somewhat pointless ride without the water.

So in a nutshell, CF seems to have rectified most of my issues with 2008 - they're adding a flat ride that I felt was needed along with the wave pool, they're not removing a coaster, and they seem to be giving TG a decent rename. Oh, and not to be forgotten they seem to be giving Thunder Road a big dose of TLC.

This wouldn't make me buy a pass, either, but I got one for Christmas from the folks. All this WILL make me a bit more likely to use it more often, though - especially If they can get the operations back to a reasonable level.

I agree. They're keeping a coaster, getting rid of a crappy name, adding a flat AND a water attraction. Wonder what got into them...

They have not officially changed the name at Carowinds yet so you never know. I'm sure they will or hope they will but Flight Deck is still on the site and it was recently updated to put the YoYo on and they never changed Flight Deck.

YAY, the swings are back, and the County Fair is getting improvements! Afterburn(er) is better than Flight Deck, and I would say better than Top Gun:The Jet Coaster also, but then ya'll would shoot me. Personally I think Carowinds(Paracrap Parks) should have been been more creative with themes anyway. Afterburn(name)What Top Gun is all about!(subtitle).

Thats neat that Saturator is staying, Although i hope they decide to get all of the effects working again, Having only one geyser working isnt very fun. Im wondering why CGA changed the name back to flight deck again. Perhaps they made a mistake, and they will all change their sites at the same time to Afterburn?

I think CF does their planning with a coin toss and an Etch-A-Sketch.

The latest I've heard on this was over on TPR. Some guy emailed CGA about the name changing back on their website, and they told him that Afterburn was an error by the web guy - that Afterburn is the name Carowinds is using, and the other parks would be using Flight Deck.

Of course, Carowinds was the first to put Flight Deck on their website, and that hasn't changed so far, so I certainly wouldn't take any of the above as the gospel truth. At this point I'd guess ANYTHING is still possible.

Wonder if these rides will open up at the start of the season with "Name:To Be Announced" signs?
