General Carowinds discussion

We are thinking of stopping at Carowinds on our spring vacation. What kinds of crowds can I expect on opening day? How long is the average wait on the thrill rides.

Thanks for the info,
Linda - snowed in in Wisconsin

Crowds should not be too bad if they are anything like the last 2 years.

Thank you for your help. I think we will be going on the 21st. Hopefully the weather will be nice, but for us anything would be better :)

It's varied the past few years, but nothing bad for you guys.

Last year was near 70 and sunny.
The year before was cloudy all day and in the mid 40s.

Usually it's in low-mid 60s around here this time of year.

The only time the crowds have been heavy was opening day when Borg/Nighthawk opened. For some reason they aren't that busy opening day.

Opening day is generally not bad, BUT this one occurs on Good Friday. Many schools/businesses are closed here in the Carolinas. We attempted Good Friday two years ago - HUGE mistake - VERY crowded. However, there seems to be a lack of momentum now days with Carowinds AND the economic climate is different. Add to this the fact of no new "thrilling" addition to the park, so, provided the weather is decent, it may not be a bad day. Be there ahead of opening at 10am, so you can jump Borg before a line forms and the rest of the day should go well. Enjoy & Good Luck!
