I have a question that has been bothering me for years.

Howcome they leave the cabin of the skytower at the top of the tower at the end of the day? Is there a special reason for that?

Just Wondering =]

I think its mainly because Skytower is the parks icon, and it looks better with it at the top, but I really dont know for sure.

So the ride can be checked out every morning. The workers have to go down where the cabin would sit to get access to the inside of the tower.

Actually, it is the same reason that Drop Tower gets parked at the top. Skytower and Drop Tower are parked at the top in case of strong winds. They don't want the cables slamming together and getting twisted. Also, NC state regulations say that rides with cables like Skytower and Drop Tower must be parked at the top for safety reasons.

DUde...can you realize when you are wrong and go with it lol. How can the cables bang around when the ride is operating. now if it is dormant then I can see that happening for like 2 minutes for the ride cycle to begin but roller is right. to prevent any PROLONGED cable banging...

I didn't say they bang around while it's operating. I said they still bang around even with the cab stopped at the top.

And i'm not wrong. How else do you expect them to maintain the ride.

Maybe you should learn not to be so Confrontational.

Very Intelligent Signature also 73. I guess you could really apply that to a Disney Fan Boy also.

you're right...I do need to "lear" to read lol. Again I say, how will the cables bang against the tower if the CABLES ARE INSIDE THE TOWER! When the cabin is at the top of the tower, the cables are coiled up inside the tower. Now explain that banging that goes on when the cables are coiled...or is that you sniffed too much pixie dust down at disney.

They park the cabin at the top of the tower to keep tension in the cables to prevent extra wear and tear on them--this information comes from one of the maintenance men.
