Being a holiday weekend, I sure packed everything I could into Saturday. Started with my son's T-ball practice at 8am. From there went to an Easter Egg Hunt at Charlotte South Fellowship Church in Matthews. They had an adult egg hunt where they were giving away a 42# Flat Panel TV and a NASCAR Experience package among other lesser prizes. I didn't win anything, but did get a nice tasty hotdog for free! From there off to Carowinds. We arrived around 1:30 or so, and parked close to the gate in the main lot(sign said season pass parking was full, I should have went anyway as it wasn't since people had left).
Since I took both kids and wife, I was hoping my son would want to ride some stuff. My goal is to get him on the Fairly Odd Coaster this year(he is 4). I talked him into the Taxi Chase. We got the 2nd seat. After the ride, he tells me the ride is too fast. I have come to the conclusion he is a wimp and won't be my partner in the future. I'll have to wait another 2 years so my youngest will be tall enough to ride, he would ride FOC now if he could. Oh well. I rode the Little Bill Boats with my 20 month old and my 4yr old rode by himself, and like was said before the ride doesn't go 2 complete turns.
I headed to the Carousel with my young ones, rode with my little one. From there we went over to Scooby's Haunted Mansion where the line was longish, we decided to head over to get the Season Passes handled. The line was about 1hr long when we first arrived, now about 20 min. HOWEVER, I filled out the info online so I wouldn't have to fill it out at the park. The information wasn't in the system, and they said they were having some troubles with that.
We rode the Skytower and got a view of the park. I haven't rode that in forever, changed now that the area has grown up with warehouses and such.
We headed over to Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion, and after about a 20 min wait, I took the little one, my wife rode in the front seat with my older. I had a good gun this time, scoring a little over 1300pts, easily beating my wife and kid. My mancard was not revoked.
From there we headed over to see the Yo-Yo, and noticed it looks really slow. We decided to do the Action Theater since I haven't done it in a few years. Still has the Spongebob movie, but no Spongebob themes outside now. Don't know if it will be changing or not, maybe in the future.
As we were heading out, I wanted to get a ride on something, so I went to Hurler since I haven't rode in a few years. I got the back seat. That ride beat the crap outta me!! Nice air, but rough. Someone said it wasn't as rough as before, I don't see how it could be worse!! Maybe I will ride again in the front and see how it goes.
We stole a stuffed animal. OK, my wife, oldest son, and I played a game so we would win. We let my son win he could feel special. Never again. Get used to losing kid.
Wasn't overly crowded, no shows running, and didn't really pay attention to the signs that were missing. I did notice the nice new paint on Satie. Looked as though there were 2 trains on the coasters running. The funnel cake with ice cream(The Works) was good, but not worth $9. But you gotta make money somewhere! It was a fun family day at the park!
