I'm not getting a pass this year, for reasons I won't go into, but figured I'd take the chance to use one of those $24.99 coupons today for the heck of it.

It was hot, the place was empty except for a certain Vekoma, and that's pretty much all there is to say about that.

Anyway, here goes...

Image
I have no idea why the GP are so in love with this, when there's such a better coaster across the park. And Afterburn doesn't make you rent a freakin' .75 locker either!

Image
At least they finally painted the background. Although it reminds me of those t-shirts you get at the beach with the neon colors and your name spray painted on there with your boy/girl freind's name on it.

Image
First ride of the day. No surprise.

Image
I guess everyone is stuck in Nighthawk line. Better for me!

Image
At least they did paint the tubs and put some new stickers on them and the base, which were both looking bad last year.

Image
It's bad when your head is bigger than the Afterburn sign.

Image
Everyone stay in Nighthawk's line! Works for me!

Image
The meh Yo Yo. Gunslinger is so much better at Ghost Town, and has a much longer cycle too.

Image
Welcome to the Generic Named Action Theater. Please lock your generic seat belts and watch this generic Nickelodeon Movie.

Seriously though, can we frackin' get rid of Spongebob already? Or at least open the other side with 7th Portal, which I liked???

Image
Thunder Road of course was still under rehab. But it looks close to being done. They've replace at least 1/3 of the wood on this thing! So can I count it as 2 new credits now?

Image
This bird didn't have shirt, shorts or shoes, so security would not let him pass.

Image
I'm probably one of the few posters on here that actually rode the cable car ride that used to use this building as one of it's stations.

Image
Crotch rocket was running, but I passed. I still want to have children some day.

Image
Also passed on head bangers ball. Anyone remember that show? Talk about 80s flashback.

Image
I'm truly amazed at the names they came up with.

Image
Hurler shows off it's new red train/teal train look. It wasn't terrible in the front row, and actually some of the turns were pretty decent. I just don't think this will ever get back to running like it used to the first 2 years.

Image
Al Gore would be so proud.

Image
'Scuse me ma'am, are we at Cedar Point?

Image
Mid-life Crisis Dora was at the park today.

Image
OK, I can understand the queue roof was old, but couldn't you put up a new one? You took the time to buy 4 new flags and put them up!?!

Image
Hmmm...something appears to be missing here.

Image
Where did all you come from? Go back to Night Hawk!!!

Image
I have the strangest feeling someone is watching me named Dick.

Image
New for 2009! Sprinkler - The Ride! It's kinda funny they did this, considering we are *talking like our stupid Charlotte weather people* IN A DROUGHT!!!!

Image
I guess they had already placed the order (notice Flight Deck instead of Afterburn) and couldn't stop it. LOL

Image
I can't wait to see what GCI has done with Thunder Road.

As the song says: See you in September!

Thanks for reading.

Nice TR! you picked a great day to have come, besides the heat obviously.

Just to let you know the reasons for the other side being closed, the second theatre is closed for reasons im not sure if i can discuss or not. But they are working on getting it up and running again.

Nice trip report. Just so you know, I have ridden the cable skyway. I'd like to see it come back at some point, giving us new overhead views of the park.

Yep, I too have taken a ride or two on the ole' cable skyway. I actually like it alot better than the Flag-tower.

Funny T.R.

I was there Tuesday with my Son and his girlfriend. They were in from Germany for 2 weeks then he is off to the big sandbox for 15 months. I thought of doing a trip report but thought better of it.

When was the last time you rode cyclone? Its far from a headbanger to me...or is your upper body muscles prohibiting you from enjoying it again lol. Hey! You said that in a TR you posted a while a go about your experience w/ the restraints and your physique!  8)

Jonathan wrote:What's with the Millennium Force Carowinds shot glasses?

The glass says Carowinds, but it does look like the Millennium Force logo.

tobyandtracy wrote:How did you purchase a ticket for $24.99 and where did you get them? I am visiting later this week and just wondering if it is that slow and maybe dead do I want to spend $40?

Unfortunately they were only good through 6/14. It was a special thing this spring to try and get former season pass holders to "test drive" the park, and help them decide to buy a pass.

And Ken, I never met Dick but I did see him in the park opening day last year.

I rode it last year at C3, and maybe after that. I'm just about done riding the Arrow loopers. With the exception of Tenn. Tornado and Nessy.

I love the air in the back on the first drop, but after that it just throws me all around too much. I don't know who said that thing was B&M smooth, they must be on drugs.
