General Carowinds discussion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several people were stuck on rides at Carowinds after a power outage shut down nearly half the amusement park Wednesday night.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the park around 6 p.m. Duke Energy said a crew working at Carowinds accidentally hit an underground power line around 5 p.m.

Carowinds officials told Eyewitness News within 41 minutes everyone stuck on rides was evacuated. No one was hurt.

Park officials hope to have the problem fixed by Thursday morning.

Wouldn't releasing that information be a violation of Carowinds' "Inside Information and Speculative Activities" policy or "Media and the Press" policy? Posting unconfirmed information on the internet is grounds for termination/final notice. I learned from my mistakes, so I try to encourage current employees from making the same ones I did. Also, wouldn't a power outage stop the water rides/slides's pumps?

Let the park worry about that. You're the last person who needs to be watching out for other employees.

I don't see what problem there could be with posting something that anyone who was in the park yesterday would have known.

It looked like the park was pretty dead that day thankfully and from what I could tell, the only riders stuck were on the brake run of Vortex. Chopper 9 zoomed into just about every ride and there didn't appear to be any coaster trains stuck on lifts and all the boats stacking up before the first drop on the flume appeared to be empty. Maybe the seats in the motion theater got stuck at a tilt..lol.

I was at the park Wednesday and ALL the rides were down due to the outage...only the waterpark was functioning normally. It was odd that the water stopped pumping on Rip Roaring Rapids, but the waterpark was fine. I was in-line at RRR when the power outage hit. What ticked me off was that the park was down for nearly 3 hours but Carowinds couldn't extend closing by at least one hour 'till 9:00pm. Oh well...it only cost me $65 in gas to make the trip. :x
