But drawings Kings Island filed with the city of Mason Planning Department provide new clues about the ride they've tried to hide:

The plans describe a coaster 4,200 feet long, based on scale drawings. It will span from just behind International Street and the Eiffel Tower and over the Rivertown area, between The Crypt and Potato Works and over into what appears to be a wooded area.

It's already known that the ride will have a water feature. I am curious to see if there is anything else unique about it; perhaps a vertical or near vertical drop?

The article also says it will have 3 loops so that rules out your standard hyper. Are there currently any B&M hypers with loops? I can't think of any off hand. Maybe a Diving Machine with 32 seats? Hmmmm......

My feeling is that they may be mistaking helixes for loops.

Or maybe this is just a standard dive machine with three inversions and people are getting misled by the terminology. That would explain a somewhat short track length for a hyper (Griffon, on the other hand, is 3,108 feet long).

Hmmmm - it seems a bit short at only 4200 feet - Goliath at SFOG is almost 4500, Apollo is 4800+ and Behemoth, Nitro and Raging Bull are all over 5000'. Goliath at La Ronde is just over 4000', so it won't be the shortest. No mention of the height that I've seen, but I'd imagine it'd be at least 200' if they use the same type of steep lift hill they used on Goliath @ SFOG.

and somehow thought the 3 turns / helices were "loops". None of the other B&M hypers have inversions, so it'd be unusual for this one to have them. Other plans there show what looks like a standard B&M hyper train. I'd sure like to do an inversion in those trains someday, but I have a feeling any B&M that loops will always have OTSRs

Also got to thinking - perhaps the length isn't correct either, if they're guessing wrong about the loops. If they're trying to guess the length of the track based on the drawings, and aren't taking into account hills and what are most likely helices, the actual track length could be greater - 4200' may be it's "footprint" and not track length.

I think Head Spin is better than a new light bulb because Carowinds replaces light bulbs every day. New for 2009: Lightbulb replacement! Two ParaParks hypers down, three to go. Will Carowinds ever get one? When the one from KI is relocated to Carowinds... ...Then people will whine because it isn't new.

But on a serious note, congrats to KI they are getting what we have been craving. Maybe in 2010 CF will give us a new ride. I'm tired of the same old Recycled-ride-O-winds.

Looks like World's of Fun is getting a GCII next year. Nice to know CF and GCII are working together. As for the new hyper at KI, I just read an article in the latest ACE NEWS that leads me to believe it will be a standard type hyper (aka: Behemoth) but with the splash ending similar to Griffon & Sheikra. Oughta be interesting. Looks like I'll be traveling everywhere but my home park next year...
