You don't find wooden coasters at County Fair either. The only state fairs I know of that had wooden coasters are Texas and Georgia.

Well, duh! But since it has been there pretty much since the beginning of Carowinds, they aren't going to move it because it doesn't fit the theme! It is a hell of a lot closer than the motion theater! The old Wild Bull ride, farris wheel, hell even a fun house would add some excitement to this otherwise bland section of the park. Everytime I go back there, it is mostly empty.

The swings have helped a lot. I don't know why they didn't get Geagua Lake's ferris wheel. I've wanted one at the park for some time.

And for my two cents, I liked the way the park used to be themed, around the Carolinas. Paramount stripped the park of almost all of that in favor of corporate blah.

I agree with Wes. Carowinds was better without the Paramount theming. I think Carowinds is coming to be less of a theme park and more of an amusement park. However, Cedar Fair is kinda keeping the theme feel with Southern Star(looks more like a boardwalk theme).

^^^THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Southern Star's theme fits the Carolina Boardwalk section perfectly...but not the county fair section. CF misplaced the theme on that...but it looks nice. County Fair needs a ferris wheel and top spin added. The scrambler needs to be moved to that area also. But, i hope CF has plans for all this in the near future!?

Smurf Island was amazing. The Nick stuff was just too fake. As a kid HannahBarbara Land was where to be. I long for the old theming, even some of the old rides. Last summer I would spend time at the park just trying to find all the old Pylons and buildings and try to see them for what they were.

I believe I will definitely get a season pass next year. I didn't get one this year but I'm finding that I'm missing my park, no matter what the Corporate fiends try to do to it.

This ismt a runescape site!!

Im not as old as some of you so the only things i saw goo was the steamboat, friendzoid, hanaberra land, and the water park 3 times.
I do remember my first trip to carowinds, riding on the steamboat and seeing goldrush scoot around the river, an it was much more covered by trees back then, i thought it was really, cool. I thought it was terrible when they removed the steamboat b/c that was the last unique part of the park.

The old Carolina theming seems to be a topic that has come up alot amongst Carowinds officials. I even heard one of the Marketing associates this fall at the SCarowinds Media Event that they are keeping that in mind and that Cedar Fair really fell in love with the Southern Nostalgia that emcompasses that park. Hopefully we will see some action taken to really up that. I did notice that they are making a significant effort to say that Carowinds is an AMUSEMENT park NOT a THEME park.
