General Carowinds discussion

^ What significance does that have to anything? You're really annoying the crap outta me here.

Also, a little thought. I swear if they bring that old checkerboard station from Geauga Lake to Carowinds...I'll go crazy, I'll officially give up on this park and Cedar Fair of any hope of it becoming good because Cedar Fair can't landscape a boomerang. BUT, if they don't, I'll eat my words like a salisbury steak.

I am still hoping that Cedar Fair will force Carowinds to put more money into it's entertainment department, and put a show on the Carowinds Plaza Stage. I would also like to see another theater installed. Back on the topic of Head Spin, rumor has it, it will be replaced by a hyper in two-three seasons.

Rumor has it from where? The boomerang hasn't even been officially announced yet, and you yourself can't even go to the park, so where do these bizarre rumors come from? Although it would certainly verify my musings that people aren't dumb enough to be hooked in by that boomerang long-term, I find it hard to believe that they would relocate a coaster here with the intention of moving it in 2 or 3 years.

I think most of the time "rumors" are random ideas posted by someone then picked up and passed on as facts by others.

There is no way that Paramount installed Stealth with the intention to move it to Carowinds in 4 years. They thought it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread; that was a pretty huge project with a lot of publicity and I would expect they intended that ride to be the centerpiece of Great America for many years.

So, it flopped out there, and they ship it to us?

Carowinds, the Home of Used Coasters! Better than nothing, I guess!!

I wouldnt say it flopped out there. Correct me if im wrong but the land it sat on was more valuable as a water park so they decided to ship it out...

That was my understanding - it was more that it was in the way of the waterpark than it being a flop. If it had been a huge success they might have worked around it, but it probably seemed most cost effective two kill two birds with one stone - new waterpark for PGA, "new" coaster for Carowinds. Remember Carowinds removed a somewhat problematic prototype that was still popular when it was in the way of their waterpark many years before.

From reading some of the stuff about CGA and the San Fran 49ers stadium that's possibly going to be built next door over the last few years, I get the impression this park ain't exactly raking in the cash - and that this was the case under Paramount as well. I think that probably had a lot to do with the Stealth move as well.

And on that note - what other rides do we want from CGA? I'm joking, but CF has indicated they're quite willing to sell the park for the right price, and if the 49ers and the city want the stadium there bad enough, I think it'll happen. With this uncertainty hanging over the place, I'd be quite surprised if the GCI really gets built for next year. If that gets delayed or any rides start migrating, I'd say it's Geauga Lake #2. I'm really starting to think the entire reason the GCI was announced so early was to provide leverage in this deal. I'm not saying it's a bluff, as they'll surely install it if the stadium issue is cleared up, but I think by announcing it early CF can take the position that they're investing in this park long term.

Back to the topic at hand, the Boomer - I noticed when I went to look at the plans again, it's not on the Hendrick Construction site anymore Plugging an info leak before the official announcement? Could be, although that cat was already out of the bag. Change in plans? That certainly wouldn't be unusual for this park. Time will tell.....

^ that would be a no, since Headspin's track in the parking lot now. It arrived yesterday, and it is laying next to TR's turnaround for everyone to see.
