The comments posted by readers are what is more interesting? Many seem to think the park is ready to file for bankruptcy protection. Also, the locals don't seem to be thrilled with how they have been treated compared with the Russian workers. Interesting read.

I have heard that some 'companies' have or about ready to file liens on the park due to non payments.

Now I doudt the place will just close up shop if they do file Chapter 13. I do see someone coming in and buying them out though.

I love how people say that it doesn't need the "hard rock" theme. That kills me. One person said it needs to lose the "hard rock" theme to survive.

I know when I went on a Tuesday evening around 6 there was nobody there. Of course I expected that, I expected on Thursday-Sat it would be busy. Now I am not sure. Obviously it was bad timing to open up the park with the way the economy is, just like it was bad timing for Wachovia to buy Golden West Financial in California. Hopefully they can either bring in some more investors to ride this out and build on what they have. It really is a nice park, I would love to go back in a few years after they add a few more things. But how can they add more when they can't pay for what they have? Going to be a rough time for sure in the next couple of years. I would slash prices and get as many people in there as possible, especially if they are spending money once they are in there. For $20 at Family Kingdom, why would you take a family with younger kids to Hard Rock Park in this economy?

I dont get this whole "ecomony" thing Yeah gas went up some but it's onlike a 10-15 dollar increase than what im use to paying. I guess I just have a job that pays ample enough but its not like everything doubled in price. I dont go to the park because its not enough bang for my buck. I gladly paid for kings dominion and great adventure with no hesitation. And those parks had a good crowd...especially great adventure. I guess the "economy" doesnt effect those parks. I know people are spending wisely lately but no one is dead broke.

Come on Jarvis, you know that the media always tells us the truth.

When I got my Beetle in 2000 it cost $20 or so to fill up, now it's about $42. That might not sound like a lot, but that doubles what I spend on gas every month, which means that I have $40 less to spend on other stuff.

So it's affected me, but maybe not severly yet.

People are still running out and buying the Wii's as soon as they put them on the shelf, so people can't be hurting too bad.

And you are right no one is really hurting just spending money on the wrong things and its coming to light now that alot of people are doing it!

It's not just what YOU pay for the gas. It's what all the big name companies are paying and then rising the cost of their product because of it. My grocery bill is now around 100 when it used to be 65. Plus gas is now 65 when it used to be 35. It's everything.

So Jarvis, tell me, are you married?? Have kids? Own your own home??

Lets look at the landscape a little before dogging everyone on gas. EVERYONE I am sure has the same issues hitting them. If you say you are getting 15-20% raises every year you are full of it. I get a raise every year, and then my insurance goes up more to cover that. Look at the price of gas. It's up what, a buck in the past year. I spend $100/month more with 2 cars than I did. That is 2 trips to Hard Rock Park there. Now the food for a family of 4 is higher. Milk is up a buck from what I was paying, and we go thru 2 gallons a week. Look at how the gov't said grow corn and lets make more of our own fuel. OK, so the increase in corn prices made all the western farmers turn to corn, and now there is a shortage of wheat, beans, etc, and those prices go up for bread, milk, eggs, etc. EVERYTHING has gone up in prices, and for a family of 4 it hurts a lot more than for people that may be single or don't have kids.
Cable goes up, water, power, gas, all are on the rise. In Charlotte they raised water rates 16% because the housing slump has killed their new hookup budget. They shouldn't be counting on new hookups in their budget, but that price was passed on along to the consumer.
Now the fact that some people spend on things they don't have to, probably right. And the more people cut, the more other things go up. Fact of life, but something has to give at times, and looks like Hard Rock Park is feeling it.

No kids no marriage and own my own home...but im full of it?? Should I provide documents so you can see my salary?? Just because you are in a wasteland of a job doesnt mean everyone is. There are things called promotions and bonus' that I tend to get at my place of employment.

Lights aprox 80.00 a month, water about 20-30 a month. My internet hasn't gone up at all. If it has I guess I haven't paid it any attention. Kids are optional to have. Its not my fault you couldnt keep your pants up. All I can say is my utilities haven't gone up as well as I dont see much of a difference in grocery. If grocery is that hard on you plant your own fruits and veggies...if you need to borrow some land to do it on let me know, I have enough to spare. I guess its my fault for thinking jobs give the same incentives as my job currently does.

So next time think about telling me i'm "full of it" when you are totally unaware of what is going on in my household...

Then I wouldn't have to go thru this.

Ok, good for you that you have such a wonderful job. I am not in a wasteland of a job either. Nor did I say I was really having a hard time due to the economy changes. I was just putting out examples that I know I have seen that would throw some people back, like the ones that lose their jobs to be outsourced to India. Nor do I regret having my 2 kids what-so-ever, they were both planned.
You say you haven't seen changes in food costs? Do you not go to the store? Not only is things going up, the portions are getting smaller as well. Examples? Ice Cream is coming in smaller containers, frozen meals portions are smaller, and I could go on but find it sensless. I guess they haven't found their way to Columbia yet with the smaller containers.
You really should be a little more sensitive to others situations, not everyone has a great job like you that pays 7 figures, nor is everyone able to find a job. This is just facts, take it or leave it.
