Question, and I really don't know how this works or if anyone else does. Satie is going back to the Setpoint, does Cedar Fair actually get anything back from this?? Is the company buying back the ride(at a fraction of the cost of course) to work on upgrading the ride for future sales? Maybe a redesigned ride that addresses problems with the original design. If CF is getting a little something for the ride and the company is paying for the shipping of the ride back to them, then at least CF doesn't lose much and can afford to build Head Spin without investing too much in it. Now whether this savings allows them to build something bigger and better in the future is to be seen.

If CF gives satie back for free, I will be done with carowinds forever. CF will not invest much at all this year if satie is being bought. Maybe 2010 will be our year...about tired of waiting though!!!

First off, Hello all. First post for me. I went to Carowinds yesterday with my g/f and spent the day. I saw the big box out front announcing the arrival of something ominous in '09, Also rode the FSS for the first time and rather enjoyed it. Actually, I think I enjoyed soaking the people in the queue line far more than the ride itself, but either way, I hate to see it go. For a ride that so many people are putting down as below average, it had one of the longer lines waiting in the queue. Perhaps it was the heat that kept them coming back.

On to the new attraction...We spent the better part of the afternoon inside the water park area waiting on slides which gave an excellent view of the holding area for the "Head Spin" track. Although many of the straight loop pieces were present, many of the cobra loop pieces weren't. It was obvious that not all of the track is present in that location. There may be other areas around the park where different pieces are stored, or perhaps being repaired, but it's not all in one place.

Additionally, I overheard a group of children leaving the park talking about the new ride and referred to it as "Viper" which would confirm the snake theme many have suspected it may be. However, I must make plain that this was a group of children discussing the name of the ride and I have no way of knowing how they came up with "Viper". Obviously, there's already a coaster with that name located at SFMM and another at SFAW and yet another at SFDL. One can only speculate at this point what the name will be for the relocated "Head Spin".

Much of that can probably be attributed to its low capacity, but that said, I agree with you. I've always loved the ride, and it was a unique piece of the park. The interactive element made the queue seem shorter and made the ride different every time. Plus, I think the coaster itself is actually pretty good; very smooth and a fast finish. When it was new, before they let everything go all to hell (like themeing on any Paramount ride), it looked fabulous, like something more out of Universal or Disney than Carowinds.

So, not to beat a dead horse or anything, but to see it replaced by what is to me one of the worst types of coasters in the world, just flat out stinks.

It's probably King Cobra like Screamscape is saying. People worship cobras, so that makes sense.

They've added a video monitor to the right, repeating a short teaser spot with very loud audio. It was hard to view with the sunlight glare, but it shows someone in first person running through some woods with heavy breathing, some sort of bang, a woman screaming, and the text "Coming in 2009". I overheard quite the buzz from people checking it out. Sad but true.

Anyone been to Hershey Park lately? I was wondering how Roller Soaker was. It also is made by Set Point. Have they taken care of it more, or are their features going down like Carowinds?? Satie is a couple years older. Just wondering if it's a park thing or actually could be the ride wasn't able to handle the long haul.

When I went to HP in '05, Roller Soaker was running great, and had a pretty sizable line all day. It was maintained and run MUCH better than the current state of Saturator. The levers to drop water from the cars actually worked, there were tons of sprayers, fountains, and other water elements throughout the ride, as well as everywhere below the ride. There were tons of kids (and adults alike!) playing under the ride, hoping to get bombed by the water from the passing cars overhead!

Going to Hersheypark just this past Sunday I can tell you about 70-80% of the effects seemed to be working properly. A geyser or 2 was down and some of the water curtains produced little to no water, but other than that its working fine. It looks so nice next to the new Boardwalk section as well. I am kind of surprised these things didn't take off, but I definitely understand the capacity issues, and likely high maintenance costs scaring parks away.

As much as I'd love a dive machine, Carowinds wouldn't get one as it's too close to Busch Gardens to have, really, an identical coaster (I say that because B&M has made no revolutions forward as far as new dive machine designs), also, Dive Machines are lisenced Busch Entertainment until *Insert Year Here*. And an S&S Launch?? EW! JUST EW! Worse, in my opinion, than a Boomer. And how can it be an 'all time low' if you've never ridden one?

Well, it's just makeshit for what we all hope will be coming in 2010. A boomerang is marketable enough to bring people to the park and make CF money for a nice addition in 2 years, as a matter of fact, a new ride for 2010 is most likely in the planning stages right now.
