White Lightnin' was an expensive ride to maintain, as it was draining the park's wallet. They found another use for the space it was located on in the Rip Tide Reef waterpark, so it was removed and like said above, was sold to Gold Reef City. I doubt they'll ever be a weight-drop shuttle loop at the park again.
This was also the reason that SFOG got rid of Viper. Another use was found for it's location in Superman, and since Viper was one of the more expensive rides to run in the park, it was naturally going to be the park's choice for removal if it's location could be better put to use. (I'm not quite sure how long it will last at Kentucky Kingdom. Their not known for spending vast amounts on park upkeep!)
And then of course their is King Kobra at Kings Dominion, which was White Lightnin's mechanical twin. It got removed about three years before WL, and is now located somewhere in Spain I think.
I miss White Lightnin' alott. It was my first looping roller coaster. Too bad these Shuttle Loops are so "costly". They really are some of Mr. Schwarzkopf's greatest thrill machines.
