"Regretfully, Hard Rock Park has closed for the remainder of the 2008 season to allow management to focus on restructuring efforts. Following the completion of this process, Hard Rock Park intends to re-open for the 2009 season and we invite everyone back next year to continue the fun."

Epic Fail. Gonna suck if this place dies off before I ever get to visit, but on the other hand they certainly didn't seem too interested in my business as a Carolina native with the prices they charged initially. They had horrible timing, opening this up right in the middle of the gas prices jumping as they have, and the other economic woes. Furthermore, though, they tried to build an IOA, not grasping the concept that IOA worked since Disney, Busch, and another Universal property were already established and drawing people to the area for the purpose of visiting theme parks. Nothing against Family Kingdom, but it ain't exactly Sea World or Magic Kingdom.

HRP shoulda been lowballing the admission price to get people in the gate and get word of mouth going. Make your money on the overpriced food and trinkets once they're in, until your attendance levels start to approach "regularly crowded" - then and only then start to charge like you're in Orlando.

Hey, there's a real bargain sitting there in MB... It fits Carowinds model
1. Its used
2. It would be a great fit for the park
3. It would look great sitting where the Hurler presently is..... :lol:

No can you say a great way to get people that paid $150 bucks for a pass to a park that is closed and they can not use. It is a great way to get some of those people to the park that are selling Season Passes for a mere 49.99 that gets you into more than one park for a third of the price.

Having gone the first week it opened, I wasn't impressed. Rode Zeppelin six times, not a bad standard B & M looper, but not as good as Kumba or even Afterburn at our park. Filled out a lengthy questionaire, got called twice by one of the bosses at HRP! I told them, too expensive for what you get. I also asked, who helped you spend your ride money? They replied that someone in the business of making ride choices... I told them they didn't get enough bang for the buck and suggested about six fun, less expensive rides to add. I kind of felt they were destined to fail, but hoped they wouldn't at the same time. If you missed a visit to HRP this year, don't feel bad, you didn't miss much!

You would think that if Six Flags is willing to shred your HRP season for a 1 day entry ticket they would at least offer you a season pass instead. They would stand to gain more that way seeing how SF season passes are almost as cheap as the one day ticket. Multiple visits usually mean more dollars.

Also, what if HRP does open in 2009 and makes the decision to honor all previous season passes for say, 2 months. Those that turned them in for a day pass at SF might feel a bit taken. Then again, HRP may have your pass on file and charge you the "lost pass" renewel (if they have that).
