General Carowinds discussion

Just wondering, why did International Coasters not build any more rides after the two Hurlers at Carowinds and Kings Dominion? Did they go bankrupt, or was nobody willing to buy a coaster from them or something?

From what I remember, the Hurler was cheap compared to some of the other woodies that were being built during the time, and it is also a nice size as well.

I Thought this company would have taken off since these two rides were so successful. Anybody know why they have no other rides out there?

Maybe they got it at a going out of business sell? All wooden coasters half off...

I thought of a new name for the hurler. How about "Grand National"? Of course it would be nascar themed. Maybe have the Station transformed into what looks like a Pit Stall area. They could have ride ops wearing race uniforms. Put a flag stand at the start of the course with a green flag waving, and another flag stand right before the break run with the checkered flag waving.

To go along with this, they could transform Stan Makita's into a "Stock Car Cafe". That way Paramount wouldn't have to waste time or money with Nascar on naming rights. Change the Dreamweaver's name once again, this time to Burn OUT.

So....I think Blackpool is far enough away that it wouldn't matter.

Actually, International Coasters, Inc went bankrupt in the mid-90's, and as far as I know the Hurlers were some of the very last coasters that were built by the company.

Yeah, you're right, those were the only two coasters built by International Coasters. I was getting them confused with International Amusement Devices, Inc.

How about the name "Smokey The Bandit." as in the paromount movie. That would be a nice name. It will have a great racing theme.

"Smokey and the Bandit" was a Universal Studios production.

I'm glad that the WW themeing is gone. It just doesn't have that "timeless" quality of some other possible themes that could be used.
