General Carowinds discussion

You are so correct David. Yes gas is cheap now but the weight of the economy has also come into play. People have stop spending and more importantly, folks have stopped traveling because there is a uncertainty about the future. A prolonged recession will hurt even the regional parks. The credit crunch will especially hurt companies who don't have a lot of cash on hand. It is possible Fair and others won't be able to get financing to purchase $20 million dollar coasters.

Well, if the rumors hold true eight years of waiting will come to an end in 2010. Of course, then everyone will find something to whine about on the new hyper.

over the past years, aside from a few acceptions, carowinds has gotten water park expansions and.............Nickaloden expansions, and thats what this may be.

Would you settle for the hyper that goes near the bridge?

I'm sure we'd all be able to "settle" for that. Any non-used, non-Vekoma ride would work at this point, but a hyper would certainly be the prime choice, and I could care less if it goes under the damn bridge.

Now the guessing starts on whether Max knows something and is dropping a hint, or if he's just pulling our chains..... :P

Maybe some of us have been under estimating the competitiveness of the powers that be at Fair when it comes to it's new market parks. They made a bold statement at Wonderland and threw down the gauntlet at the Island. Why would they do anything less at Carowinds? SFOG needs to be put in it's place in the south east. :P If things follow on an Island like schedule, removal of the flume will occur this winter, with site prep starting sometime in the spring. It will be very interesting to see what Fair do at Dominion. If I were running Fair, that would be the market I would be obsessed with conquering. Bush will be a rather formidable foe but could be weakened now that the park is on the blocks and that beer money has stopped flowing.

Let me try and enlighten a few things here. Things that I've heard have come from a various assortment of sources about what is going on at the park. Innuendo was that site prep would begin for 2010 at the same time as they started building a new home for the Cobra. Various comments get made that the halloween haunts won't be used in that area anymore. In fact, I was told at the park the day of C3 (duh...I love when I post at night and I'm half asleep.) that the Dead summons house would be history,

Other tibits are heard that the log flume is going bye bye. Yes, I've heard talk of this and that its just talk. But, for talk to get started, there must be a bit of the truth in there somewhere. We may not be able to see what's going on now. Come opening day, I bet you'll have seen some idea of what is going on in that area.

Unless you get me drunk one night while at the Charlotte Eagle, I"ll reveal all....Tom Collins and Smirnoff Black as long as it diesn't taste like that smarmy mexican lime blend will do. I'm a cheap frunk
