General Carowinds discussion

I hate those people. All they do is annoy you by getting you to play all those games. All you do is spend all your money. I hate that. I want to ride the rides not to play the stupid games.

Don't get me wrong I like to try a few games now and then but all you do is blow all your time at the park. Sometimes how they get your attention is the annoying part of this issue. It isn't the games it's them trying you with googly remarks to get your attention

I HATE THAT

The ones at Carowinds are particularly agressive. They get mad if you don't want to play!

IMO I think we have a few to many games. There everywhere!

Just ignore them :) That's what I do. Keep on walking and act like you don't hear them. Works every time.

Yeah, it reminds me of the carnival too, except for the fact that they aren't as scary as the carneys. They're a bit agressive and annoying, but that's what they do for a living. I'm pretty sure that they get a base pay, and then based on how much all the booths in the park or in an area bring, some of that is split between the workers for a bonus or something. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that's why they are so loud and nagging at people to pay.

The more people that play = more money for the park = more money for the gamebooth workers

Yes and i really hate it when they say hey you in the such and such shirt. Just do like i did last year and that is walk over like you are going to play and when they say oh your going to play say no i was just walking over here for the **** of it. As for the people asking to take your picture right when you walk into the park hmm nevermind i am not sure i want to give that secret out. Maybe if i meet some of you at the park i will show you how i do it.

It has gotten too ridiculous, some of them will just give you the prize as long as you pay the money. The picture takers get on my nerves also, sure it's only a few seconds, but I have my mind set on ridding a paticular ride and I don't want to be held much longer. <_<

Just keep walking,
Just keep walking,
Just keep walking, walking, walking.

This is my philosophy.
Walk right by the picture people and say over and over "Go Away! No thank you!" If they get in your way, cause a scene.

This one guy was in my way trying to take my picture and he wouldn't let me pass. I just told him his fly was open and off he went...
...and yes, it really was.

Some of the stuff on www.jokecenter.com can be used to your benefit against these people at the "games of skill" booths. Check out the top 10 jokes. Look at the wall mart thing and 101 ways to be annoying.

lol. Someone else watched Nimo.
I too pay no attention to them but on accasion I will just look at them and say No Thank You and that is the end of it. I do not know if they get a bonus for people played per hour or not but I have always thought that the majority of games should be in one section and only a couple extras dotted thru out the park. Also, you do not need more than one type of any game. If I were not the nice guy I am I would kick all those dang bouncing basketballs every time one came near me. That is my biggest beef with the park and it's games, not the people who run them, but why do they have to give them away filled with air? We could argue that it is a safety hazard having those bouncy balls all over the place.

Yeah, generally I just walk right by the game people and I do some *interesting* things while having my picture taken. If the game people get too close to you, shrivel up your face and hold your nose. Works every time. ;)

on the basketball games they should not fully blow them up so people can not bounce them-that is what they do at Dollywood

^ That is a really good idea; certainly something I would be happy about if Carowinds implemented it.

Have you noticed that all the really good first rate amusement parks do not have these "games of skill." I have this book for strategies on these games and I am really good. I just don't play because the prize they're giving out isn't worth $2.

I agree. Disney does not have ANY Prize/Games in it's parks, and Universal, Busch, and Dollywood have very few. Six Flags and Paramount seem to stuff them in any place there is room avalible, like in the middle of a midway or along the sides of the walkway. But then again, most of the parks that don't have the larger budgets that Disney, Universal, Busch, and HFE supply their parks with.

I also agree about the idea to give basketballs out slightly deflated, like Dollywood does. I can't stand basketballs in a theme park. Everytime somebody hits be in the leg with one of those while I'm in line, I'd just like to take it and throw it as far as I could.

Amen, I make my 14 year old son take his back out to the car which is a pain but it's better than trying to keep up with the darn thing all day. The younger kids want to play the games and you have to tell them no because they never win, my 6 year old bugs me all day. It's a real pain. Put theme all in one place or just remove them.
