not crazy about the paint either. call me crazy but i loved it when (back in the 80's) thunderroad was red white and blue. It was great coming in the entrance in walking up the bridge and seeing that brite white thunderroad gleaming in the sunlight ( ahh childhood memories!!) what paint colors does everyone else miss?????

Wow thats a very old pricture, I never knew cyclone was orange, and there wern't any trees in that picture like there are now.

Thats a very long que line they have built for Carolina Cobra, I hope it wont be filled.

Speaking of trees, in the early years people complained because of the lack of shade. BTW, it was years before that vine grew to cover the walkway where the mist is sprayed. A friend who has not been since the early 80's told me that he stopped going because the park was too hot. I laughed and told him it is safe to come back because the little saplings are all grown up now.

Yeah I can remember back in 1996 it was still really hot because there wasnt to much shade, but they have seemed to have fixed that problem! I really love the way carowinds looks now I think its very eye catching and beautiful.

I think that's the first time I've ever heard anyone say Carowinds looks better as it is now. IMO the park is very tacky and ugly looking today compared to how it use to be.

As for trees...well, they are all gone.

As much as I don't want to reopen that whole island/Sternwheeler can of worms, I really think tearing out the island and the boat destroyed a big park of the park's atmosphere and charm.

I do have to agree with you on that point! The charm that once was Carowinds is all gone now!

I agree with that, and have since 2003. However, after the ride opened it was worth losing the island. Maybe not the boat, but the island.
