General Carowinds discussion

I was on screamscape and came across this today...

2010 - New Coaster - In Planning - (1/29/09) If you had any doubts that Carowinds was planning a new roller coaster for 2010, this should set your mind at rest. Click here and scroll down a bit until you see the first entry for 1/30/09 for a “Carowinds 2010 Coaster” project bid to discuss “Bid Invitation & Instructions, Ride Confidentiallity, Contractor Policies & Insurance-General Term”. While this gives nothing away as to the size and scale of the project, I’m sticking to my guns and predicting that we may see the next evolution of Cedar Fair’s B&M Hypercoaster design, from Behemoth last year to Diamondback opening in a few months, to the Carowinds 2010 project slated to cause the removal of the Log Flume this year to make room.

Hmmm...

All those public records, they can't hide it forever. But what will it be a Hyper? Floorless? maybe a HyperFloorless? (hehe) Anyways its good to know we are getting something.

If you can find out how much your neighbor paid for his house (google -mecklenburg county gis), Then info should get posted soon, once construction gets the bid. HeHe good for us. I love public records!

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone began to unearth this information in public records. When I was at KI in early June of last year, many concrete pillars, the "splash down" area and other work had already been performed. Several of the RO's knew it was going to be B & M, even though the official announcement was weeks away. I'll bet the Coaster Stock event in late July will be when the official announcement is made, but we should be knowing quite a bit within the next three months. I really think it will be a B & M hyper and will be on the same format as Behemoth and Diamondback. CF has 200' coasters in many of their ride parks ~ the addition of this coaster will be the tallest in the southeast and thus follow the company's established profile of being a leader in coasters ~ it's just common sense!

If it is a hyper I hope it is atleast as tall as (230ft) but it would be nice if it was closer to the 250ft mark.

When it gets built that will be a nice piece of scenery when coming down I-77.
