I'm not really surprised. The partnership or whatever that owns Ghost Town also owns the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and it's damn near going under too. The warning sign I saw was when they cut their operations in half this past summer and laid off most of the workforce.

I think they bit off more than they could chew with the amusement park. I'm sure they were betting on the hope that things would improve.

We went and rode the Polar Express with the kids this year, and the route was only going from Bryson City instead of going from Dillsboro. We talk to someone in the museum and Dillsboro isn't doing very well either. The economy has hurt the mountain towns pretty hard as they rely on mostly tourism to survive.
I think Ghost Town will be ok, sounds like they will be able to restructure their debt. But the economy has to get back on track soon or they could be in big trouble.
