Only had a couple of hours for a quick in-and-out trip today, but for what its worth:
I hope no one travelled in from out of town for today; Thunder Road, Afterburn, Drop Tower, and Vortex were not in operation. Attendance was pretty high however, which made the lines longer than usual for the ones that were.
I must say, Brighthawk looks STUNNING. The new paint almost makes it look high-def and 3D compared to the old scheme. If they'd just get rid of all the Star Trek font signs. It looks better than Flamin... oh never mind. Half hour wait time (including a 10 min technical delay, surprise) and some piece of dangling strap or something whipping around for a little extra thrill.
Cyclone, no change there. I miss the gum wall in all its glory.
Hurler was a walk-on after a 30 minute delay. This one wasn't the park's fault - it was due to the ol' involuntary protein spill. They had to clean the train and track because someone ... hurled. Was there some off-season TLC for this ride? Really? I couldn't tell. If they were actually trying to preserve the roughness of this ride, mission accomplished. I know, some of you like getting spanked and slapped around. I don't. Ow.
The log flume remains boarded off for a good stretch. I spent some time in this area mapping out the new hyper in my head. Dreams.
Not enough time for the Flyers.
Oh, and the new park slogan is "Ride on." So, yeah, that.
Which brings me to the Caroline Cobra. You guys got such great pics already so I didn't bother. I had planned to keep track of the load-time capacity, until, sigh, yet another 15 min technical delay, and I lost count and/or motivation. I think I saw more empty test trains today than full ones. Chalk it up to opening weekend kinks I guess.
But the ride actually IS extra smooth, maybe a little shaky in the reverse cobra roll, but not off-putting. You guys are going to fall in love with these trains - roomy and comfortable. Last year, when images of the harnesses were released, they didn't make sense to me. When you see them though, they make perfect sense. Vekoma got it right this time with the trains and the harness, they even proudly stamped their logo on it.
It's a boomer, granted, not the most thrilling ride out there. But it's an overall pleasant experience, and a good addition. Dare I say, even ........... fun? It's a good ride. Some of you veteran enthusiasts may even like it.
