Well done, Wes. Since there's not a ton to analyze about the ride itself, I think you were wise to keep with the "theming" angle in your article.

Quick question to all, or maybe you'll know. I noticed during an operation delay that the chain that releases the lifting car (without the train attached) for it's return down the first lift seemed unrestrained at the top of the lift and was beating violently against the track. Is this normal? Is there supposed to be some kind of doomaflotchy or series of hooks that keeps the chain restrained from doing that? Just curious.

And sorry to hear about your work situation. Hope things turn around for you soon. For everybody.

Thanks...

And yes, there has been a problem from media day forward apparently with the lift hill on the station side.

On media day I heard someone said that the catch car "ran into" the train when it was coming back on a return run.

Ever since then, the cable or chain or whatever pulls the catch car back down after it releases the train has been getting too much slack in it.

When that happens, it hits a sensor and stops.

It was down all day Monday, and they said they hoped to have it fixed by this weekend.

With it supposed to rain Monday, I guess I'll have to wait another weekend to "officially" ride it.

I agree with that review. Its the best ride in the park until we get the hyper next year. It has more down time then a $5 hooker though. I am a little concerned with safety at this point with all the downtime and just last Monday it was down because of a loose bolt. This is the first time I have ever heard of a loose bolt on a brand new train. I also would have liked to see some kind of double safety system something like the seat belts on Cyclone.

Hi! New member here.

I rode the Cobra a few days ago. It was a pretty good ride. The first drop was the best part, the rest was a little dizzying. It was my first cobra roll, certainly not my favorite inversion.

I tried to post my review of the Cobra on here. But, I couldn't get the picture of the advil bottle to show up.

We're getting a hyper next year?

What park is getting rid of a hyper next year...

Six Flags New Orleans may try to unload a few coasters on the cheap......They have some water damage though. Doesn't look like they are going to be reopening it. Although, I don't think they had a hyper in the stable.

Not quite sure where Cobra ranks for me yet after just two rides, but it's certainly behind both the above rides, plus probably T-Road and Hurler. Second favorite steel in the park? Perhaps, but probably not in the long run. And I'm talking about compared to what's there, not what we might get in 2010.

I like Cobra, especially the pull up the first spike and the drop - it reminds me of Deja Vu a bit, although that's an order of magnitude more intense hanging straight down, being held only by a Vekoma restraint. The rush through the station is nice, and the inversions are smooth - but man, are they over quick. Up the back spike which lacks the same thrill as the front one, then quickly back through the inversions. They're certainly more fun backwards, but over just as quick.

I'm not entirely sure I'd rate it over Cyclone, Vortex or Nighthawk overall after the novelty wears off. Yes, all 3 are somewhat rougher than Cobra, and none are terribly long themselves, but they do last a good bit longer than Cobra and offer more varied ride sensations during the ride.

Well I can agree with you Ken. I do find coasters to make other people feel alot different then myself or others. It all depends on what the person is looking for in the ride. For me I rate it up top because I like the grab me by my ****s and take my breath away feeling. No other coaster or ride in the park does that for me. Outside of Dropzone as the first ride of the day. I would be kidding myself if I said I did not enjoy the G's on Cobra. We are talking back seat here also. I dont find any other seat to be worth the ride. Oh and yes I did say Hyper I dont work for the park so I can "let the cat out of the bag". I can not say how I know because I dont want anyone to lose there job but they have many leaks. All I know right now without a doubt is that we are getting a hyper. Dont believe me? Wait and see. I honestly myself have trouble believing it because of such a small area they have to work with but I can not deny what has been sayed.

Finally got to ride Cobra today. The ride is good, rode Deja Vu and liked it better though. Something about being totally vertical. I really like the restraints on Cobra, they are very comfortable. Not a bad ride at all, and the line does move pretty well.
