General Carowinds discussion

I could have swore that the NC Zoo was going to be using Days of Thunder in their simulator later this year, but I can no longer find it on their page. Unless, they decided a non-animal simulator didn't really fit.

Anyway, my question is... Is Days of Thunder used in small simulator novelties (like at the beach or in malls or whatnot)?

I know Carowinds has been using some "off the shelf" motion movies lately with some orignials as well, so it stands to reason that James Bond or the Days of thunder movies have shown up elsewhere. Of course they are licensed movies so maybe not. But I just know NC Zoo had considered (or still is considering) Days of Thunder.

They have had the simulator for two years now. It's nothing too special and is easily moveable. It's larger than what you would find at Broadway at the Beach. I'd guess it seats about 30 at a time. It's not a big attendence booster, but it is a big profit maker for them. The thing tends to stay filled but keeping a minimal line. Last year and currently they have the Deep Sea movie. Before, they had a movie where you got inside other creatures like a frog and a bird and so forth.

I liked Days of Thunder, and James Bond 007: A License to Thrill as well. But it seems that most people can't stand either of those films.

The bond movie is my favorite all time simulator ride.

It was my favorite as well.

It sure didn't stay long (at least it didn't seem like it did).

It stayed for three years. (I've counted the years) It must have been so much fun that it didn't seem like it thuough. Yes, Bond was lots of fun in the simulator. They need to go back to making live action ones. About the zoo, I havn't seen them putting in days of thunder.

They should have an Untouchables simulator movie like the bond one. After all, the Untouchables is a Paramount movie.

I like the movies but did not like the Days of Thunder at Carowinds. The way they had you "bank" the opposite direction the car was. I know it was to cuase the effect of lateral G's but visualy I hated it.

If they really wanted to improve the simulator theater, they would get rid of those old 2-seat pods and buy some of Iwerks' 4-Seat Pods, like Dollywood has. They can pull off 6-different motions, while the old ones we've got can only do 3.

I'm not quite sure why James Bond didn't last that long. It was alott better than the 7th Portal.

I sure hope they don't buy those seats, as they were the most painful simulator seats I've ever been on. Maybe if they elevated the back seats a tad more and added a bit of padding...

I'm not crazy after all. The NC Zoo IS getting Days of Thunder Starting Feb. 29th through the end of the Year. How interesting, unusual, and curious.

I say we get a 4-D theater with a perminate show about all of paramount's biggest movies. The show could be 20 minutes long with like four minutes on each movie. For each movie, they could do a custom scene with some 4-D effect and all the scenes could flow together creating a plot, storyline, protagonist, and antagonist. This should be based on the 4-D theaters at the Bush Gardens Parks and Muppets at Disney's MGM Studios.

I say the movies should be:

Indiana Jones
Untouchables
Etc...

Does anybody else have any good ideas for movies for this show.

Ex. Show a customized version of the scene from Indiana Jones where he's in the egyptian tomb with the Ark and there are all the snakes all around him, they could blow air at your legs from under the seat. And spray water on you when Indy pours the gasoline on the snakes.

Yes, I have always wanted them to replace the Paramount FX theater with a 4D one. That would be much better. :D It would atract more people too.
