Seems that Six Flags has files Chapter 11 today to restructure dedt. I got this in my inbox from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom:

Dear Season Pass Holder,

You may have read about how Six Flags, Inc. is restructuring its debt. We want you to know that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be here for your family, this summer and for years to come.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be open all season long.
From hot summer concerts to Holiday in the Park, Discovery Kingdom will be open for business, the business of fun. As always, we continue to offer one of the best values in family entertainment, just a car ride away.

Expect great things throughout 2009.
We're presenting the all-new Odin's Temple of the Tiger show-starring Odin, the legendary white Bengal tiger. We've got new LAND and SEA animals including our cheetahs, Sahara and Nairobi. We're hiring staff, giving you and your family more dining options, and bringing you top music acts like The Veronicas, Boys Like Girls, and Raven-Symoné.

If you would like more information, we invite you to read our RESTRUCTURING FAQ.

Thank you for being a Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Season Pass holder. See you at the park.

Sincerely,
Eric Gilbert

President
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

This is all fine and dandy, but the 1.8 billion they owe are to coaster manufacturers and other ride manufacturers will go to nothing. This will screw the other parks world wide by raising prices on rides to re-coup the loss on the rides not paid for.

I went to Six Flags over Georgia once. First and last time. Horrible experience. The ticket booth person didn't know what she was doing. Had to wait 45 minutes just to get a ticket. Every coaster had a line that was at least 30 minutes long. Food and drinks were overpriced to death. Several rides were shut down. I find Carowinds to be a lot better.

Maybe noone got this but the Parent Company was the one that filed Chapter 11. The parks will still operate as normal. The majority of the Dedt is from LOANS that where used to pay for all those nice shinny coasters. Every coaster that is built needs to be financed just like a house has to be. You folks do not think that B&M would set up a payment plan for a coaster?

what day did you go? On a Sat? You probably would expect that. I went once, there was longer lines than 30 min, Deja Vu was about 45min-1hr, and Superman was 2.5hrs. Maybe the ticket person was new? Food and Drinks are overpriced EVERYWHERE.
The whole bankrupt thing isn't a surprise, been expecting that for a while. Seems to be the way of life lately.

Unfortunately, it was on a Saturday. Worse than any other Saturday i've been to Carowinds. If that ticket person was new, whoever trained her did a horrible job.
