First of all, all that was pointless cause you basing that on a continuum which unfortunetly isnt how its run. I dont think i have ever seen 3,000 cars in the parking lot before. And besides how many of those cars are gold pass holders.

Do you actually think gate prices alone can offset a 13million coaster in a year?? So gate prices can pay hundreds of employees salary. Oh and lets not forget that the gate prices alone can afford the daily usage of power that park uses. And i really dont wanna go into the cost of all those paper products like park maps and brochures that are always thrown on the grounds all the time. Yeah 40 something dollars can do the job...............

So in closing, just because they charge 8 dollars to park doesnt mean that money just goes into a trust fund for the lot only it goes to the up keeping of the whole park in general.

I agree with that coasterbruh.
Sure, Paramount is out to make as much money as they can but at the same time they also do tremendous things for us. I would hate to see the Electric bill for one month. Where I work, employess 300 people, and our machines and overall buildings electric bill is well over 30,000 per month. I can't imagine what the bill is out there.

I would hate to pay 8.00 everytime I went but I would if I had to. After all I have my season pass so even spending that 8.00 won't break me.

You do have to admit, however, that $8 is a few dollars over considering that other parks are offering more for the same price price...

-Dukeis#1, who remembers when 1-day admission to the Magic Kingdom was $38.00.

To all of you who said that the parking fees are just enough to cover expenses, thats just stupid... Carowinds is not a charity, its a business... I have no desire to unecessarily boost their profit at my expense. However, I'm also not out to ruin business for the park... after all I've purchased a seasons pass every year since I was seven... so there!

Yeah I mean... if you're gonna do that kind of thing, I don't see why you would come onto a public Carowinds message board and post that you do it.

If you're not parking in the park's parking lot, you're not supporting the park.....You seem like one of those people that buys their annual season pass and then abuses the hell out of it, going over 10 times a year, never spending a dime while they're in the park (not parking int he parking lot, not eating at the park, not playing games.....not contributing any money outside of your season pass). You're not helping the park in any way. If you really like your park and want new rides added, spend money. Buy food, pay $8 for parking...it's not that much, really. It's cheaper than SFA.

Now houston...........I have to stop ya there. I dont play games at the park, nor do i eat at the park on a regular basis. I think your going a little over board lol lol. Sure this had turned into a very intense thread but those things have nothing to not patronizing the park but merely choices that the park gives up as consumers. You have a choice to eat in the park or before you get there or after you leave. You dont have to play a game at the park because it isnt required of anyone. But one thing you have no choice for is the parking!! Well unless you stay at one if the close hotels but other than that carowinds has no option for parking.

The point is don't do it you can't park for free at any other park that charges money so why do it here. Just buy a SP with parking pass and save yourself a few bucks (parking fees and towing fees).

While I always get a pass with free parking (Gold in previous years, the regular pass at the end of last year) and never park at the mall nor pay the $8 parking, I don't feel any obligation to pay extra $$ inside the park. I don't see going over 10 times a year - and I go WAY more often than that - as being any kind of "abuse". If they didn't want us to go whenever we wanted, they wouldn't offer an unlimited season pass with free parking.

Sure, several times I hit the park for Top Gun ERT on Sunday morning and get in rides on the other big coasters and Drop Zone and leave by 1pm, spending no money in the park whatsoever. I don't cost the park anything, though. They're already running the rides, they're already paying the employees to be there, etc. Now, if everyone did this all the time - they'd go broke. The vast majority of people either go a time or two a year buying single-day tickets, or go maybe 4-5 times on a season pass - all spending money on parking, food, games, and trinkets.

Now, even though I go often and don't spend much if anything on MOST visits, the park makes a decent amount of money on me. Sure, on admissions they make very little per visit on me - BUT several times a year I get some friends and / or co-workers to go to the park with me and my coaster-riding friends - and they bring their friends along sometimes as well. All total, we probably encourage (or drag :P ) enough people to the park each year to make up for our above-average number of visits.

Also, on at least 4-5 visits a year - which is probably the average number of times a "normal" passholder goes - I'll spend a full day at the park, eating at the park, buying sodas, etc. I'm also guaranteed to buy at least one admission to Scarowinds if not more, and will buy a coaster shirt or two each year - I'd buy even more of those if they offered them for more of their rides.

So while they make basically nothing on several of my visits, over a year's time, they make a good bit more money from me directly and from my bringing other people there than they do the "average" park guest who goes once. For them and for me, it's a good deal when all is said and done.
