I will use this thread to notify everyone of any changes to the boards they should be aware of. I installed a YouTube feature last month that you may have noticed, but a lot of people are having trouble using it.

Let's say you have a YouTube URL, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3ZAGBL6UBA

The part that you want to put inside the YouTube forum tag is the video ID at the end. In this case, Z3ZAGBL6UBA. So it would be .

Also, I just added a few custom profile fields for favorite ride, park, etc, so go update your profiles!

I personally would like to see the regular site come back...

You're not the only one (hi Jay), but I doubt it's something I will ever do, and certainly not soon.

If you don't mind me asking, why do some of you guys want it back? It seems to me like the forum and the site catered to different audiences. The site really just offered information that everyone posting on here already knows.

I am still always open to suggestions, though, and who knows what I might do if I get really bored sometime. I will say that suggestions for things that don't involve me writing a ton of content have a much greater chance of being implemented!

That would be absolutely fantasic! I would love for the site to make a return. Hey, why not have community members write some content so the burden would not be all put on you? It would go much faster I think.

I would want it back to have just general park info, history, and stats. I think it could be an excellent resource.

Being able to delete your own posts would be nice, instead of having to write "..." or "Nevermind", and wait for a Mod to do it. :P

That's a fair request. You can do it now. The mods will still be able to see them, so don't abuse it.

In my opinion it gave a new look at the park. It showed the past attractions and other special features. The park site is cool and all but a fan site is what alot of people look at when they search for trips...

I've always been a big fan of Robert Ulrich's SFOG site, and it's been invaluable to visiting that park over the years. Something like that would be great.

Maybe a new sub-forum or a stickied FAQ thread where some general info could be shared would accomplish much the same thing for our new visitors. The workload could be spread out and it wouldn't be as hard to maintain as a full-blown info site. There's a lot of knowledge here on attack plans for the park (which days to go, what times certain rides are busy, etc.) and things like which seats to ride on certain coasters, and which ones to avoid, and where to eat in the park for the best food and best value.

That last part is not a bad idea, and is something I may look into in the near future. Maybe a very highly moderated forum with no actual discussion but just informational and helpful content that people want to contribute.

Best idea in this thread so far.

It would have to be heavily moderated for sure. I'll try to help out if you need a hand. I can write a lot about the nuclear-powered coaster that is being put in for 2010.
