You're welcome for pointing it out. :) Leave it to me to notice something dorky like that.

Yes, they do. Indy engines sound like bumble bees, granted rather large, pissed off bumble bees. NASCAR engines sound like thunder. Especially when you're standing on pit road with 43 of them cranking up at once. Pure bliss.

Anywho, arrived at 8:15AM, left at 11:45PM. Hurler sucks painfully (still). After Burn after dark = awesome. Legs hurt. Back hurts. No sunburn, surprisingly.

This ends my Coaster Stock trip report (and doubles as my intro post, so HI!!!!!). Hope you enjoyed it. :)

Am I right in guessing that this is Jillian? lol

Ding ding ding!! You win! :) LOL, yes, it's Jillian.

People think that naming it Intimidator would mean paying a ton of money to NASCAR, imagine what it would cost to theme it to "Cars" and name it Lightning McQueen?!?! Disney is *EVIL* about stuff like that. Although, it would be a good idea for a new kiddie coaster at WDW .....

No.

But I have a question: Did the teaser ever say anything about NASCAR in particular? Whoever said, just beacuse it's racing themed, it can't be called WL? Why can't this coaster STILL be racing themed AND called White Lightning?! I just don't think CF is going to want to pay NASCAR or the Earnhardt family for this...

Someone else on this forum quoted Dani as saying during coasterstock that the log from the old log flume ride that was where they ate lunch had a special meaning. It was log number 3 which is Dale Earnhardt's number. You never know, the Earnhardt family may not charge them for this. That is a special honor to have a coaster named after you. If it is Only themed to Earnhardt they wouldn't necessarily have to pay NASCAR anything.

Well, the red track at the B&M plant would fit better with Dale Earnhardt and his number 3 car, which was "a predominantly black car with bold red and silver trim." What color does everyone think the train will be? Or, what color would you like to see? Personally, silver would be pretty cool, but I definitely could see them using black trains with the red track, and silver/gray supports.

Moonshine. That's it. Didn't the park have an original theme that tied to Moonshine back in 1973? And then Bobby Allison and David Pearson rode the maiden voyage of Thunder Road, which had trains of a cop car chasing other cars because of possession of Moonshine. And who are Allison and Pearson..... why, they're former Nascar drivers!!

I figured it out...

I'm sure Swampfox could tell us more about this original theme...?

Trust me, Teresa Earnhardt is a royal B**ch, and she isn't going to give Carowinds the rights to use his name on this for nothing. She owns the rights to the #3 likeness, and dares anyone to use it. She is in it for the cash, and made a stupid decision to outcast Jr from DEI, who is NASCAR's leading merchandise seller. Say what you want about his driving, I'm not really an Earnhardt fan, either of them.
Now a generic racing themed coaster/parking deck could be done without any rights having to be bought. It could be smart to draw parallels to the moonshine racing which is where NASCAR has it's roots, but anything historical would need rights and would also be included in the NASCAR Hall of Fame for sure with the likes of Junior Johnson, Buck Baker, Lee Petty, Bobby Allison, etc. Not sure how far you could go without stepping over the lines as to rights with NASCAR. Guess we'll see on the 26th which way this thing is going to go.
