There is a giant pot-hole on one of the tracks (might be foreward) in the dip right before the turn-around. I always have to brace myself for it. I hope it gets fixed.

Paint It White!

Again... <_<

I noticed 2 weeks back all the lumber and trucks around Thunder Road. You could see it just by the red light where you turn for Employee parking and such.
At least they are keeping it up. Great news to me thanks.

Oh!! Didn't we vote it off? Maybe they took us serious!! lol

I agree. Lets get's them to consider repainting it Red White and Blue one off season, as they retrack it quite a bit. Maybe for it's 30th Anniversary in 2006.

Ok i'll go talk to my inside people and make sure they promptly paint it back white because a few people dont like it...........has it ever dawn on some folks that the reason they havent did anything w/ the paint is because they are slowly overhauling the whole ride season by season. So be cool and stop sounding like a broken record!!

Well, that sure is a long overhaul. The paint has been gone since 1989.

SFoG gave GASM and GC new coats of paint this off-season! The Scream Machine runs better than Thunder Road as well...

I prefer scratched CD. Records are so "Wall decoration at Hard Rock Cafe"-ish.

I hope they fix that back breaker part (bottom of the hill before you turn around). I had back problems for a few days after riding it one time.

It gets me when people complain about something that they have no clue about. As far as your saying the paint being gone since 1989 i find that hard to believe being that i remember riding it when it was white and it wasnt no 1989 cause i was only 8!! Then people go and compare parks, like the parks really care about if another park paints their coaster. Since SFoG got a mini-minetrain carowinds is gonna get one too?? So i guess the folks at carowinds are frantic because people are gonna come there and leave to go to SFoG because their coasters got new white paint.........im sure that wont happen. Do you really think the GP really cares what color the coaster is?? As long as it isnt falling apart is their main concern, and mines too.

Coasterbruh, whos about tired of hearing the whines about painting Thunder Road!!

Thanks for the pics!

Good to see they are doing some more maintenance on TR. The made it a little smoother in 2002 or was it 03 when they put some new wood in?

Not sure.

Also, I think the "natural" look is ok. Now that all the paint is gone, it looks pretty good to me.

When the paint was chipping off and stuff, it looked terrible. <_<

I agree with Coasterbruh and bgwfreak on the paint. I like the natural look plus it sure saves time and money when wood has to get replaced.
I wish they would do something with the station. That is the one section I think just looks dirty and worn down.

Wow, calm down. I'm just saying that certain parks have different levels of upkeep, not that people should go to SFOG over something stupid like that.

Some parks put an effort into landscaping, others go for rides, and such.

I thought Thunder Road looked nicer painted white, just as <a href='http://www.coastertown.com/Paramount/PKD/CandyAppleGrove/Candy03.jpg' target='_blank'>Rebel Yell</a> and <a href='http://www.coastertown.com/Paramount/PKI/ConeyMall/Racer04.jpg' target='_blank'>Racer</a> look good in my opinion.

But then again, alott of people were whining about Vortex getting painted, and it seemed to be in safe, working order. Maybe they should have let it sit a few more years as well, or better yet just sandblasted all the paint off and gave it a "natural, factory fresh" appearance.

i woulden't mind thunder road getting repainted, as long as it's not the old colors it originnaly had,i like the painting on <a href='http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery26.htm?Picture=1' target='_blank'>Colossus</a> at SFMM,but i don't really care.

I bet Carowinds is just trying to save money on TR. I can't even imagine how much paint it would take to paint that thing.
