The Donald is in financial trouble right now, I doubt he'll be buying anything once he gets his currently under construction towers finished so that maybe he can recoup at least some losses.

I know I will get some flack for this but so be it. It is great to see that this wonderful coaster has a huge following, but it is sad to say that the fate of this coaster has been set in stone so to speak. Does it suck? Well yes it does but there is not really a thing that can be done at this point. I would say the only two things that would prevent this from taken place is the park deciding to not to take it out or the park is sold to say Blackstone/Merlin.

I am sure there has been something on the drawing board well before In Bev bought the brand. It is just that In Bev is giving the green light to go ahead with plans to take it out. You have to think if they where not going to put anything there then they would have left it running through Howl-O-Scream and took it down during the offseason, but it looks like it might even be out before How-O-Scream starts.

Again I want to encourge people to get their last rides on the old girl before Laber Day. I am sure I will get crap for this but it sure was not the first and I doudt it will be the last time. Just go ride it and enjoy the last few days it will be driving towards the Rhine.

Big Bad Wolf will not be sold to another park.
For one main reason, the coaster was designed for the layout of the land it occupies. another park could not create an area for the ride unless they too had a "river", and even then the cost for a construction site to match the one its currently stands on would be through the roof.
So no this is it for the Big Bad Wolf, its a great ride.

It wopuld not surprise me one bit to see them began the demo right after they close it down on the 7th of Sept. I would not be to shock to see them also began the predemo (Tree removal to get equipment in) before they close it down. So you have a mere few weeks before they shut the main bus (Power) and began taking her down.

It is great to see also the outpouring of people riding it this past saturday. I even saw a save the wolf shirt and I commend people for trying it but this one is set in stone. Get out and ride it while you can cause when it is gone....it is gone!

I was there yesterday. Such a dreary sight with the rain and all. I rode twice and the lines were not as long as I had expected, but a lot of enthusiasts turned out for sure. It seems most of the people came the day before, because of the long weekend and better weather. I did not stick around until park close, but up until 4 or so you could feel the bittersweet excitement in the air for both those who knew and those who were oblivious to it all. It was great to give one last Howl on the greatest ride ever to travel the speed of fright. BBW, you will be missed.

I still remeber the year prior to the Wolf opening. My dad and I both stared at the "flipped" track being constructed and could not believe that this coaster was going to ride around the course "upside-down" for such a long segment. Well, it all finally made sense the year after when the awesome "wolf eye" commercials started appearing on tv, lurring us back to the park for a fantastic experience for many years to come. Unlike Drachen Fire, Wild Izzy, Die Wildkatze, and Glissade before you, YOU will be missed.

I was there on Friday. The lines were short that day as well, but that was the case for all the coasters that day. I heard it was much worse on Saturday and Sunday, though. I rode it 3 times. It was my wife & step-daughter's first ride on a swinging inverted coaster and they were pleasantly surprised. I hadn't ridden it since 1992 and it was much better than what I remembered. I got home to Spartanburg on Monday evening and had a picture of my wife & kid on Tradewinds, but I couldn't remember the name. I pulled up the map on their website and they had already removed BBW from the map! It was only 9PM on it's last day and they wasted no time removing it. Very sad. If I remember, I will post some pics.

It was removed last week from the site. I think they took it down about mid week. But I wonder what the new Sheriff in town will do when they arrive?

I really hate they are closing this ride. It was the first suspended coaster I ever rode (back in '97) and loved it. I went to BGE last year once in June, but it was 103 degrees and didn't ride everything that day. I had planned to go back a couple times later that week until i had an accident and sprained my knee (no coasters/parks for just over 3 months ) so I didn't get to ride it. UGH.. they better have something good in the works planned to replace it. I love the park, although they do lack in quantity of coasters, though the quality is great.

I'll take quality anyday over quantity. The atmosphere at BGW is awesome. And I haven't been in a long time, LOL.
Jonathan, good write up on your site. Funny, I rode Drachen Fire and really liked it, don't remember it being that rough. Guess I could take a little more back in my younger days. Sure gonna miss BBW though.
