Well the Hurler ain't no Georgia Cyclone as far as pain goes, right Swampfox? But, I really think something needs to be done to help everyone enjoy it. I like the rough turns but then again I go with the train an lean in. I like the air-time spots you get depending on where you sit.

You know , the funny thing is when I went on it in the beginning of the season , it was smooth . At Coasterstock , I had the opinion that it should become the Backstabber instead of the Hurler. I don't have the feelings to destroy it , but I don't enjoy as much as I used to due to the roughness. It's horrible. I like the layout and such , but the pain it gives is unbearible...

Any one want to start a new show called "Extreme Coaster Makeover" and make the Hurler the first coaster, then maybe son of beast.

I have really enjoyed this ride as long as it is in the front row. Anywhere else on the train and I usually end up with a headache that follows me around for the rest of the day. At coasterstock the front was riding amazing. We then rode just 2 rows back and were completely beat up. I'm going to give it a thumbs down just because most of the train just does not work for me on this track. I would love to see a new wooden coaster with something other that just right turns on it.

We rode it twice in a row at CoasterStock, and I felt (and still kinda do) that my spine had been compressed 3 inches. The drops are awesome, but then you SLAM to the right. I can ride the rough ones, and keep myself centered so that I'm not slamming my head around and getting beat up, but this one just kills me. Maybe *I'M* Getting too old for it.

All I can say is, for air time, I want my Starliner back. :(

I agree that the front ride on Hurler is still providing a good experience with a good measure of airtime. However, in the very last seat, this ride is physically destructive. I experienced some seriously back wrenching jackhammering in that seat on my one and thankfully only ride in that seat.

I have to agree with Jonathan and one of my favorite moments on the entire ride is that next to last turn that slams you to the left just before the turn. A great moment that exists on both versions (Carowinds and Kings Dominion).

Is this the most painfull ride I've ever been on... not even remotely. But it is bad enough in the very back that I just can't take it. The train and ride needs some work but I wouldn't say it warrents tearing it down.

When Hurler is bad, it's terrible. But when it's good, it's actually quite good.

For a few years, I stopped riding it for the most part because it was just too rough. And I'd ridden Thunder Run, and it's pretty flippin incredible.

But in the last couple years, Hurler has been good. Not quite as good as the OMG Amazing rides me and 2 others got on PKI's Hurler on a warm August nite in 2007 (they stayed on for extra rides as I ran over to XLC, and I'm thankful for that now that it's gone).

The last 2 or 3 years, though, I've gone back to liking Hurler.

I like the hurler a lot. I rode it so much at coaster stock I got a headache, lol (but that dont take much) It was great having ERT on it and I hope its ERT next year as well. I dont want them to take it out, and I dont think it would be on the list to be taken out anytime in the near furture. I see rip roarin rapids being on that list.... sooner than later..

I went yesterday, like I said it would. Is still very rough, however I have changed my mind about saying " TEAR IT DOWN! ". I say refurbishment is in order. It could be a good ride, they just need to work on it.

The trick with the Hurler is to ride it like you would a motorcycle or a dirtbike. Lean into the turns and all that stuff.

It still tears me up and I can't ride it more than 2 or 3 times before I'm done with it for the day.

Question for the experts: How much of a difference does it make in the ride of a wooden coaster in the number of people riding the ride??

Why I say this? Hurler is a walk on when I go, usually on Sundays. So the trains aren't full. I see people say the front is a great ride, while the back is terrible. I have experienced pain in the back, and not such a bad ride near the middle. But does the ride run better with full trains when in the back?
Thunder Road was pretty rough in the back last time I rode it, and it usually isn't. Again, train half full or so, very light day at the park.

For anyone that thinks the Hurler puts there back out of place and hurts, please go ride Georgia Cyclone and tell me what you think.

Yeah, those brush marks in the paint really send the wheels off track.
