What rides/coasters do you miss that have been scrapped or moved?

Mine would be:

At PC:

White Lightning
Monorail
Railroad
Cable skyway

At SFoG:

Viper
Z Force

At BGW:

Drachenfire
Wild Maus

I wish we could have voted for more than one on the poll. I miss the White Lightning, the train, and the skyway.

I think trains really make a park feel fun and exciting, plus it's a great family ride and nice way to take a break. Likewise with the skyway.

White Lightning speaks for itself.

The old Pirate ride should have been listed as well, it wasn't that great but it was unique and could have been enhanced if it had stuck around.

Black Beard's Revenge was pretty fun. Especially the first couple of times when I was younger, and couldn't figure out why we weren't falling out of our seats. lol

It had the best A/C in PC too. That's why I went on it all the time. lol

And also, for some reason this boards polls won't let you select more than one. I tried to change it to that, but it's not an option that I can tell.

I voted for the swings as I have not ridden many of the above rides. My carowinds career begins around 1992. I liked the Monorail (or what I can remember of it), the Sternwheeler was a nice break from coasters, and the wild bull was ok (It was too short). I liked the swings alot and I was very angry that they were replaced by "Flight School" (a really bad, pointless attraction), while the Wild Bull was replaced by Top Gun. That I was ok with.

I always thought the Oaken Bucket was a cool little ride. Much better than those Gravitrons at the fair. A lot of people walked right by it without even knowing it was there. In my opinion though WhiteLightning wins hands down!

I've heard of the "Oaken Bucket". I was too little to ride it when it was there. They had a similar ride at Kings Dominion called the Time Machine. It had cool lighting effects once the floor dropped. Where was this ride located in Carowinds? Anyone have an old map with it on it?

I think it was located over near where the stage is beside the arcade across from the Thornberry's flume ride. (formerly Powder Keg flume) The oldest map I could find online was 1989, and it was already gone at that point.

Ken Rutherford has a 1979 map on his site...Carowinds the Early Years that shows the Oaken Bucket just inside the Monorail across from the Flume.

Thanks for the tip. Great site. I just requested a video.

Oh, and now I have to add the Surfer to the list of missed attractions. What a crazy looking ride  .

Yeah I bought one of the 73 videos. It's pretty cool. :D

Also, I was out looking at ken's website http://members.aol.com/K9660R/aeriald.html

It's hard to believe that there was absolutely NOTHING at the I77 exit!! Wow it's just empy land out there then :o  B)

I'll miss the Stearnwheeler because it was unique for such a small regional park.

I don't miss the Monorail that much.

Of course I wish we still had the Steam Trains, but it only lasted three seasons and left around a decade before my first visit.

Cable Skyway was before my time as well. There are not that many of them left around, mainly because of the accident at Six Flags Over Mid-America/St. Louis in the late 70s.
