I believe the entire thing took 55,000 gallons, as I was told in a letter.

Changes on Thunder Road now? I hope they can get it done by opening day. These things seem to take along time.

Paint would be worth it on Thunder Road. If they did that and added new trains, then some idiots would think they rebuilt the entire ride!

By idiots, I don't mean anybody on this board. I'm talking about some redneck who hasn't been to carowids in like 4 or 5 years.

Yeah I wish they'd buy some trains that look like the old "sherrif" and "bandit" trains they had originally. Or modify these that we have.

I think thunder road would look nice with new trains. But I kind of like that oringal color. Also Its past color would be better!

The key to riding Thunder Road is never sit on a wheel seat (with the exception of the front seat forward racing train). My personal favorite seat is the backwards side seat 11 (second from the back, uhhh front, uhh back, well you get the point).

I must say that Thunder Road is one of my favorite rides at the park, although that dip before the turn-around is brutal. I however have developed a theory. Try sitting in the front row of any of the 3 row cars. For some reason, these rows seem a little smoother. The very front row is the best.

The kind of cool thing about TR, and maybe all the other Paramount racers (Racer, Rebel Yell) are this way too, but TR can give a very different ride depending on the weight of the riders.

I've ridden it sometimes when we'd like glide over the bottom of the valleys, and it was smooth as silk, then you get a heavy train and you'd like bottom out, and it felt like it was going to pull your stomach down into the ground. lol

I guess that's why a lot of people prefer woodys, because you get a different ride almost every time, as apposed to steelt that doesn't have as much give and take.

Plus, Rebel Yell & Racer (PKI) have 5 car trains, as opposed to Thunder Roads 4 car trains. This has a definate effect on speed and airtime.

It's hard not to LOVE that white wood and shiney red track!

OMG! That picture shows the Riverview trains before they had the Car fronts added on! That must be right after Thunder Road opened! Did you get that picture out of an old postcard book or something?
