I love this ride, its rough for sure, but thats what makes it fun to me. I would like to see some TLC on this ride, but until that happens, Im cool with it. It has hurt me before, but I still can resist its roughness...lol!

And just to show that the ride does indeed polarize opinions, the poll now stands at 51% to 49%, with the "yays" winning by one vote. Is there going to be a runoff?

Those who know my posts, or indeed those who heard me yell "Is Hurler rough?" after getting off the ride during the day at Coaster Stock, can guess I'm in the "Yay" camp. Hurler is my 2nd favorite coaster in the park, aside from the "slow era" circa 2004. I ride it in the front car 95% of the time, which probably helps my opinion of it. I guess I don't get why people don't just ride it up there and enjoy the ride for what it is.

Now, my Coasterstock ERT ride in the back showed me the rough side in a major way. The ride should be better than that, and it does need some work on it to make it more enjoyable for all. I'm not sure if it's just the blue train, though, as that was the only one I got to ride during ERT. It was good up front, but not as good as the red train was earlier in the day.

I'd love a GCI, Gravity Group, Intamin, etc. in the park, but I'd like it in addition to Hurler, not in place of. I've had some great airtime moments on Hurler over the years and would miss those.

In it's current state, I personally won't go near it. It's becoming the red-headed step child of Carowinds. It needs love (and refurbishing.) :)

I just don't see how a 1 car train can be considered a success

My point was aimed at enthusiasts screaming to "taer it down!". Having ridden more than a few coasters, they should know that many ride significantly better or worse at different ends of the train. Many of the people who complain seem to never ride up front to see how that is. They also have access to sources of information, such as this site, where multiple people will suggest it's a better ride in the front.

It should certainly be smoother than it is for the entire train, as I said. Still, even when running smooth, the front car is where the airtime is, and that car is always going to have the best seats in the house, IMHO. This isn't different than many other woodies, that are either front-seat or back-seat rides.

When was the last time the tracks were redone or got new trains. I'm a big fan when it comes to woodie coasters but for the past 2 years now, I feel that the roughness is getting worse and worse, I for once in my 15+ years ridding roller coaster never had a sharp pain in my neck which everytime I moved it really hurt. Which suck driving about 2hrs home. But hey don't get me wrong, I love the hurler it was my first wooden coaster, but I rode that one at KD.

Well ....

The Huler is a great ride, but only in moderation. Maybe riding it one or two times per park visit.
I love the overall ride, but yes, it can be painful, and lately I've actually heard the staff apologizing for the headaches when riders get off.

Overall I think it should stay, but I believe they could do a little work to the trains and some track segments to make the ride a bit better.

I agree with many points made by previous posters. Here is my take on it:
As an airtime wh#re, I have love for Hurler--but only in the front seat. I rode the back once and swore I'd never do that again. However, I have practically walked on every time I have ridden it, so it's not hard to get the front. Despite the fact that it is not a particularly inspired or original ride,it's my third favorite after #1 Afterburn and #2 Goldrusher because it's pretty lively and sassy, and because it's got the best airtime in the park (for now.... ). That said, I also agree that a ride with one good seat can't really be considered successful. So, I vote to upgrade it- but please don't get rid of it!
P.S. omg, Georgia Cyclone....groan...never again. I was actually ANGRY when I got off that ridiculous thing!
