I wouldn't aggree with that, the only thing more expensive would be a B&M or an Intamin hyper/Giga/Strata.

really? whats the price range on one of the new towers. I thought they were around 6 or 7 million. Thats less than a giga or strata.

I would really like a bigger tower. We all know that carowinds has the money and time for off season 2005. They have a good finacial once they get through this year. They just don't want to do the work like other parks do

Yeah, I wouldn't call a multi-million dollar flying coaster being lazy ;)

Sorry.... grrr... my post should have said it would be MUCH more expensive to put in a strata or a giga than a drop tower. Sorry for forgetting a word or 2. Grrr jump down my throat why don't you. And for your information, I did read your entire post!

So, the park is lazy because they haven't done anything with the stunt tower? That's really some shabby thinking. I don't know of any park that has refurbished or made a tower bigger, etc. The park is happy with the ride so I doubt that you'll see any changes to it. Just because one person doesn't like it anymore doesn't mean the rest of the public has!

Wow. Some of the stuff I have read in this thread leaves me with nothing else to say...

First, let's get our facts straight. Drop Zone at Carowinds was the first in the Paramount chain, so no wonder the other parks built bigger versions! Second, why would Carowinds get rid of it and build a new one any time soon? In fact, even if they built a new sort of drop ride, why not keep both? A lot of other parks have first generation freefallers and next generation tower rides (i.e. SFOG). And what really gets me is the comments about Carowinds being lazy...I'm not even going to say anything about that, I mean, do you honestly believe that? And the other comment about Paramount finally paying attention to Carowinds. I want to know when they weren't paying attention to Carowinds! I have lived in the Charlotte area for well over a decade, and I can remember at least one new ride every single year I have been here. That's better than most Six Flags parks! Just because the park is not building multi million dollar coasters every year does not mean Paramount isn't paying attention to the park.

^I agree. The "Paramount neglects Carowinds" thing is way over-blown.

I agree. But the people that say that Paramount has neglected us are coaster lovers. Ever since Top Gun, needless to say the biggest thrill ride in the park, the gp has wanted more rides just like that, and since then been teased with jr coasters. Taxi Jam, FSS, Ricochet, Runaway Reptar. I am a believer in total family fun, but the four family coasters in 4 years was a little overboard. Well atleast we know that they wont be putting anymore of them in.

Just so you know, I am NOT saying Paramount neglects us, I can just see where both sides are coming from.
